About Heather Moulder
Do you feel trapped in a world that's defined by the rules, values, and expectations of everyone except you - and you're so done with feeling this way? Are you ready to find success on YOUR terms - real success that includes serving BOTH your family and the world (no more pursuit of success in one area at the expense of the other)?
If you answered yes to either of these questions, then you've come to the right place at the right time.
I'm an executive coach, recovering attorney (I practiced law for over 18 years), writer, cancer survivor and the founder of Course Correction Coaching. I work with professional women who are relentless in their pursuit of success on their own terms through the use of their unique strengths, skills, and talents to generously serve others and make a positive impact in the world.
My clients seemingly "have it all", yet feel trapped in a world defined by the expectations and values of everyone except them, feel overwhelmed by the number of balls they're juggling (and frequently stress over their never-ending list of to-do's), crave more purpose and meaning, and struggle with guilt over their inability to turn work off when with family and friends. They feel stuck and don't know how to get the clarity they crave so they can take the first steps to change their lives for the better (and they fear change, failure, and what others might think should they make big changes).
I help them:
- learn to trust themselves and their decision-making process,
- find clarity about what they want and the first steps to take to get them there,
- redefine success for themselves based on their values and desires, and
- find faith in themselves so they can confidently make the changes they want to their lives.
Through our coaching, they go from feeling stuck, stressed, and doubting themselves to clear, confident, and in control. And they create and start living the life of their dreams.
Who am I?
I practiced law for 18+ years and built a successful + fulfilling career (with over a $2MM book of business) while having freedom to take care of myself and my family. But I didn't start my legal career that way. Initially, I felt trapped & had zero faith that I could have success on my terms. But eventually I realized that my problem wasn't my circumstances, my career, my place of employment, or my colleagues. Simply put: my problem was me (or more accurately, my mindset). It was stuck in fear, perfection, and self-doubt.
And so I reconnected with my unique strengths, values, and needs - and discovered how I could lead with them, follow my intuition, and develop my law practice my way. And, even though I still had fear, I learned to draw courage from within and develop FAITH in myself. And I was relentless in cultivating a new mindset of mental resilience, growth, and success (which I still work on to this day). And this is what finally helped me to have success my way in my legal career while also having a fulfilling and rewarding personal life (and being an attentive mom to my 2 boys - who are my world).
After I came back from battling an aggressive breast-cancer, I realized that my purpose was calling me in a new direction – but I didn't get stuck or lost in this new realization. Instead, I followed my intuition and values as a guide (leading me here now).
I’m out to end the “you can have it all” mentality that permeates the professional psyche – because it leads to a failure mindset based on unrealistic expectations. I want you to start choosing YOU, to define what YOU want out of your life, and start LIVING that life. I know first-hand that life is short (and you only get one). It's time to start living that way.
I’m ACC certified by the International Coach Federation (ICF) and a member of the ICF. I hold a JD from the University of Houston, am a University of Texas at Austin alumni, and am a CEP graduate of Coach U. I reside in Dallas, Texas with my husband and two spunky (and adorable) boys. I’m a cancer survivor and learned (through my cancer journey) that you can empower others through service. It’s what ultimately led me away from my legal career and into coaching.
I’m also a tried and true silver-lining finder and happiness warrior.
It's About Being Soul-Savvy
Most of us spend a lot of time trying to do things that we think we should be doing (but that our hearts aren’t really into). Why? Because we’ve been told that’s the way we’re supposed to live. And we’re afraid of being perceived as selfish. This is especially so for working moms. We’re often so caught up in trying to achieve “it all”, that we don’t stop to think whether we really want it (or what it is we want in the first place).
If this is you, you don’t have to continue living this way. You can simplify your life by figuring out what you truly want – based on your individual needs, priorities, and values. And then by living intentionally within those needs, priorities, and values. This is the key to finding fulfillment and feeling balanced and happy. And guess what? Contrary to what you may think, it’s not selfish to satisfy your needs and honor your priorities and values. In fact, by living this way, you’ll have more energy and time - enabling you to give back and make a real difference in the world.
This is what it is to be "soul-savvy" (because the soul-savvy professional is someone who's courageous, insightful, and resilient (with a dose of sass) and relentless in her pursuit of success HER way by passionately serving BOTH her family and the world in order to make a positive impact).
Be Empowered by Taking Control of Your Life (and Living it Your Way)
Stepping into the soul-savvy being that's within you requires getting clear on what you really want and standing powerfully for yourself so that you can make the changes you need to get you where you want to be. It's about learning to be unapologetically YOU. And that's exactly what I help my clients to do. To help my clients do this, I use a framework I developed for myself in my early days as an attorney. This framework helps my clients:
➤identify their needs, priorities and goals and create an action plan around them;
➤simplify their life around what they really want; and
➤confidently tap into and lead with their unique strengths, values, and needs (and follow their intuition).
This framework is adaptable to each client and helps them get into action – because talk alone doesn’t change anything. That’s why it works.
Client Praise and Case Study in Living Boldly
Before I started coaching with Heather, I was stuck in a rut. I had little to no focus – in all areas of my life. And I felt guilty and fearful my decisions were disappointing to one or more persons in my inner circle and to my colleagues. Because of this guilt and indecisiveness, I failed to set appropriate boundaries at work or with extended family. This was stopping me from living within my priorities. I came to Heather completely overwhelmed. Once I started working with her, I felt empowered and felt I had a concrete plan and steps to implement that plan. If you are one who ponders and agonizes over the same issues repeatedly without making progress, Heather will put you on a fast-track out of that mindset. Coaching has made me more confident in each decision I make. I trust that, even if I misstep, I have the wisdom to make a correction. I’ve learned to let things go and have tabled the guilty feelings. My glass is half full (in fact, it’s often overflowing). This is a dramatic change from the pessimistic mindset that I had when I started coaching with Heather. It really is simple (even where MAJOR life circumstances are involved): identify your priorities and make sure your decisions are in line with them. -- S.H., Associate at a top tier law firm
