About Mary Jo Rapini
Mary Jo Rapini, MEd, LPC, is featured on TLC’s series, Big Medicine which completed season one and two. She is also a contributing expert for Cosmopolitan magazine, People magazine, Women’s Health, First, New York Daily News, Seventeen, Redbook, People, and Self Magazine's “Love and Relationship” section. An intimacy and sex counselor, Mary Jo specializes in empowering relationships in her private practice. Since 2008, she has been the Intimacy/Sex psychotherapist for the Pelvic Restorative Center at Methodist Hospital and a consultant to Bariatric Centers throughout Houston, Texas. Mary Jo is co-investigator on three research studies dealing with food addiction, binging, and sexual satisfaction in the weight loss surgery female patient. She also sits on the Mental Health Board for Obesity Help.
Mary Jo is featured on two weekly television segments on FOX 26 News in Houston called, “Mind, Body, and Soul with Mary Jo” and “A Healthy Happy Hour with Mary Jo.” One of her segments on "Mind, Body, and Soul with Mary Jo" entitled Classmates With Cancer, was awarded the esteemed Gracie Award in the Outstanding Talk Show - News category.
Mary Jo also provides her opinions on major news stories in regular appearances on CNN Headline News. Mary Jo has also appeared on The Today Show, CBS Up to the Minute, Montel, Fox National News and various Houston television and radio programs. She was also featured in the Discovery Health show, "I Was Dead."
Mary Jo is a popular speaker across the nation, with multiple repeat requests to serve as key-note speaker for national conferences. Her dynamic style is particularly engaging for those dealing with intimacy issues and relationship challenges, or those simply hanging on to unasked questions about sex in relationships. She was involved with the Dove Campaign to speak for a symposium encouraging young girls to embrace their bodies and build confidence and a healthy body image. She also speaks for "Women in Government” explaining the importance of women’s sexual needs, and teaching all women the importance of knowing their bodies.
