About Barbara Ann Bruno
As far back as I can remember I have always wanted to be a writer. It was no surprise when I started my college career I would major in English. I received my 4-year Bachelor’s degree from Adelphi University with a minor in Psychology. Writing has been a passion of mine from a very young age. I never imagined the wondrous places my writing would take me.
In 2013 I joined the ranks of AFAA becoming a group certified fitness instructor. In 2015 I decided to add nutrition counseling and holistic care to my practices. I studied at the worlds largest nutrition school, IIN, and became a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach in 2016. In 2017 I studied under Robert Ferguson, America's Fat Loss Coach, and became one of his certified DietFreeLife Coaches. In January 2018 I was appointed President of South Carolina for DietFreeLife.
Healthy eating and fitness are part of my daily routine, but that wasn’t always the case. I spent decades yo-yo dieting looking for the next best thing. As the old saying goes, “Been there, done that!” Through my journey, I learned that every aspect of my life was affected by the way I was eating and what I was eating. The food we choose to fuel our bodies with can absolutely change our moods and affect our health in a negative or positive way. It was a revelation! I instinctively knew if I wanted to stop the yo-yo dieting I needed to find a solution to the fad diets and I also needed to stop the pattern of negative relationships I was in. Eradicating negative thinking I allowed into my life was a tremendous game changer. I found a lifestyle that empowered me to toss the fad diets out the window, trust myself, and manifest my happiness.
My current career changed my life. I now enjoy speaking, teaching and nurturing others to seek out the lifestyle that best suits their individual needs. Through my extensive research and education, I am now able to pass along the knowledge I've acquired to support others on their journey. We are all bio-individuals, no one diet fits all and no one situation is the same.
Some fun and personal info: I was born and raised in a big Italian family on Long Island NY where Sunday dinners with family was a tradition. The aroma from the kitchen was heavenly! I kept the tradition alive by passing down our family dinners to my family. Friday night in our home became family night; good food, an uplifting movie, and if there’s time, a fun board game. I love to bake. I’m a cookbook collector and over the years I’ve managed to modify traditional dishes and baked goods into nutritious and delicious food. I am a big fan of the music group Coldplay and I cannot resist a good organic dark chocolate bar or brownie! Currently, I reside in Myrtle Beach, SC with my three daughters and one son. My love for cooking has trickled down to my children.
