About Shellie R. Warren
Shellie R. Warren has been a full-time writer for over two decades now. It really comes as no surprise, being that her mom said that her makeshift toy of choice was shaking newspaper, even as a toddler.
Fast forward to adulthood and Shellie has been featured in over six dozen different publications. She also has two published books (Inside of Me: Lessons of Lust, Love and Redemption and Pure Heart: A Woman's Guide to Sexual Integrity) and is currently working on two others.
Although it’s hard for her to narrow down some of her shining moments as a writer, penning for Black women platforms like Naturally Curly and xoNecole was fulfilling on many levels, for sure. That’s because she was able to write about some of the things that she adores most — natural beauty, self-help, relationships and of course, sex (she worked with an organization that tackled sex and porn addiction for nine years).
Although writing is her first love on a lot of levels, Shellie wears a few other hats too. She works as a marketing copywriter. She does brand consulting. She public speaks. Yet probably what brings her the most joy is being a marriage life coach and a doula.
Since Shellie has never been married before and also has no children, it’s a book within itself how she came into both of those positions. Being a marriage life coach comes out of being a child of divorce, attending too many weddings that had red flags before both people said, “I do” and studying covenant relationships, almost ad nauseam in order to avoid being a statistic. A doula comes out of having four abortions herself (check out “Why I Named the Children I Aborted”) and then going down her own road of self-discovery and healing, along with being a teen mom director for the local chapter of a national non-profit a few years back.
If you’ve been paying close attention, you’ve probably noticed that Shellie’s life path has a bit of a theme — relational wholeness. After making quite a few mistakes of her own, observing the mistakes of others and then purging it all by writing a lot of it out via poetry and journaling— her PhD in life has earned her the privilege of being able to make a living from her natural gift of writing as well as her life experiences.
If after reading all of this, you’ve got a few questions for Shellie — sorry, she doesn’t do social media. What she does do is check her email accounts. The one she doesn’t mind sharing is missnosipho@gmail.com. Hit her up. Anytime.
