About Heather Steiger
Heather Steiger is an elementary school teacher, writer, mother of three and wife. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.A. in English, a B.S. in Elementary Education and a Masters in Education. She was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio where she currently resides. Reading and writing with her children and students created a hunger for her to develop and master the craft of writing. This led to her creating her own book company called I Can Illustrate Books. She has self-published eight children's stories and is an active SCBWI member.
Mrs. Steiger's most popular book, What's Different About You: Medical Conditions and Disabilities Explained for Caring Kids, can be found on three continents. Doctor's offices have enjoyed providing it in their exam rooms for parents to read to their children while waiting. She has been featured on Something Special Magazine and is a Your Tango Expert where she writes articles on marriage and parenting. Her work has been featured and/or republished on Fox News Magazine, CNN.com, Yahoo Parenting, Scary Mommy, Popsugar, Blunt Moms, Taable Note, Psych Central and The Mighty. She has written for Birth and Beyond magazine and has an article coming out in a future edition of The Friend.
She is currently blogging, freelance writing and working on short stories for children's magazines. Additionally, she is writing a historical fiction series for middle grades. She is contracted with editor Emma Dryden, of drydenbks, in New York, to consult with her about a series for commercial publication.
