Denise P. King is a Cape Cod-based writer. Portions of her memoir entitled, The Weight of Winter have been recognized by the Columbia School of Journalism with first-place awards in both Non-Fiction and Poetry. Ms. King writes personal and compelling essays with the core belief that the story should serve the story rather than the teller. The heart of her work looks back on challenges faced in this life and ultimately, how to overcome adversity with love and positivity.
In addition to her love for writing personal essays, Ms. King is a high school English teacher with twenty-five years of experience. In this capacity, she created a College Essay Workshop, which has served hundreds of students over the last twenty-five years to help them find the right voice for their college essays. Ms. King's love of writing and years of experience teaching make her the perfect person to fine-tune any student's college essay. She believes everyone has a great story to tell; they just need to find the right person to help see it.
