About Brenn Dowdy
Brenn Dowdy is a junior at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. Picking journalism as a major and women studies as a minor, she finds interest in queer literature, poetry, sexuality and gender, and feminist theory. Brenn has done community service work with Planned Parenthood, The Feminist Majority Foundation, Montana Indian Ministries, The Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance and Roan Mountain State Park in Tennessee and has written for El Nuevo Tennessean, The News Hub and her campus news paper as an opinion columnist. Brenn was a missionary’s kid and went to an International School. Because of this she has lived in places such as India and Malaysia and has studied many languages and religions, making her an expert in Eastern religions and Christianity as well as her studies in eastern literature. In addition to this she also is trained classically in singing and enjoys to sing blues and jazz as well, writes poetry as a hobby, and has a dog and a cat that keep her company on the weekends when she is working on her feminist theory essays. She hopes to become an expert in sexual education and reform the “abstinence only” SexEd programs in schools.
