About Abigail Ekue
Abigail Ekue is a photographer, author and curator focusing on gender, social representation and body neutrality, sex & sexuality with her claims to fame being Bare Men and The Darker Side of Lust. Her written and photographic work has been published in PAPER, The Huffington Post, Time Out New York, AskMen, L'Oeil de la Photographie, Best Women's Erotica of the Year, WideWalls, Focus Magazine, The Naked and the Lens (2nd Edition) along with various publications in the US, UK, France, Mexico, Germany, Switzerland and India. Exhibitions have included those at Museum of the City of New York, Houston Center for Photography, Erotic Heritage Museum (Las Vegas), Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum (Bronx, NY), BKhz Gallery (Johannesburg), B&W Athens Photography Festival (Athens, Greece) and inclusion in the Lusted Men collection. She made her curatorial debut with Bare Men: The Group Show which included 30 selected artists. Abigail Ekue's work has been cited in graduate theses on vulnerable masculinity, design in independent pornographic publishing, and research on the differences in the depiction of males versus females in fashion photography. Work from her portrait portfolio is at the Department of Photography of the University of Athens. Current personal projects include the ‘SHE Rides’ portrait series featuring female motorcycle riders across the US and her dynamic B&W portraits of Black creatives, artists and visionaries, "Black in Black & White". Abigail Ekue is also the owner and operator of Native Creative Concierge where she curates and leads private excursions for travelers and corporate clients who want a local experience.
