About Patricia O'Gorman, PhD
Patricia A O’Gorman, Ph.D. is a Trauma and Addiction Psychologist, a Life Coach with a virtual practice, an International Speaker, known for her warm and funny presentations, and a best-selling author of over 70 articles and 9 books on women, self-parenting, and trauma, including The Resilient Woman, Healing Trauma Through Self-Parenting.12 Steps to Self-Parenting.
She co-chairs the Hospital, Healthcare, and Addiction Workers, Patients and Families work group, part of the COVID Psychology Task Force (established by 14 members of the American Psychological Association). Dr. O’Gorman formerly served as director of the Division of Prevention for the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), was a co-founder of The National Association for Children of Addiction, where she serves on the Advisory Board, is chairperson of the Advisory Board of Horses Healing Hearts, and board member of the Sober St. Patrick’s Day Foundation. She has held leadership positions in eradicating sexual violence and promoting child welfare.
Dr. O'Gorman is a licensed psychologist in New York, and a life coach, maintaining her private practice virtually. Her approach weaves together the discovery and development of inner resources, understanding personal communication styles, and nurturing self-compassion, optimism, and resilience.
