About Keya Murthy, M.S., C.Ht.
“If I could, I would. But how do you know whether you could or you couldn’t? It’s all in your mind and dictated by your belief system.” Coach Keya
Keya started off as a tutor when she was thirteen. She taught fun subjects like science and math and some English. Keya grew up shy, quiet and introverted. In a crowd, she felt painfully awkward. Her constant reprieve from an oppressive east-Indian society was the outdoors. It was in nature she felt free and found herself. Fortunately, Keya was born in Assam, which is in north-east India. Assam is at the Himalayan foothills. Her village was surrounded by tea-estates and jungles as depicted in Mowgli movies.
Keya remained a silent witness to all the happenings of those older than her around her. Indians use astrology for all decision making process. They seek the counsel of the astrologers or the panchangam. It's a book which describes a day with five attributes. Everything in India was done according to the dictates of the day as per the panchangam.
Curious Keya asked her dad what was this about. Her wise dad in all his humility explained to four-year-old Keya. He said “The positions of celestial bodies decide the fate of each human on earth. So based on the panchangam you can decide what to do or what not to do on a certain day. Your fate is written in the heavens depending on your time, date and place of birth.” Like every child would, Keya rebelled in her mind “no one is telling me what to do and definitely not a rock in the sky.”
Thus began the journey of Keya, a non-conformist. Keya studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in her undergrad curriculum. She graduated with honors in Physics from Maharaja University of Baroda, India. Following that she finished her masters in computer science. She started her career as a software engineer at the age of 23. She finally quit tutoring after 10 years. Yet her passion has always been writing and teaching.
She contributed to her company journals at Mastek Pvt Ltd where she worked for 15 months. As a software engineer, she took on the role of supporting the sales force. This gave her ample opportunities for teaching in formal and informal settings. In 1992, she traveled to the USA with her then husband. In the USA she worked as a software engineer, systems analyst, and systems architect in many companies. Some of which are: Coopers and Lybrand, Abbott Labs, Butler International, Bayer Labs, ST Microelectronics and Springbow Solutions. She has traveled widely within the USA and internationally.
In 2005, Keya returned to school to study about the human subconscious. She wanted to understand what kept humans feeling lost, stuck or overwhelmed. She graduated with A-Honors from the HMI School of Hypnotherapy in Clinical Hypnotherapy. To be a good teacher you have to be a better student. Keya has continued her education since then. Every year she has added new certifications to help her be a better teacher, healer, and coach. She is a certified Trainer in Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP).
Hypnosis taught her that humans are creatures of habit. No one can stop a habit, you can only replace one with another. Working with Keya her clients create a life they always knew was possible.
NLP taught her about the language of the mind. Her clients understand how their internal conversations create their external reality. It is the soliloquy when projected into the universe that creates our experiences. Keya teaches her clients about the power of words, which are a prayer, a prophecy. Working with her, they learn the importance of affirmative self-talk.
