Despite the wounds left behind by a difficult marriage, I was able to keep my heart open.I never lost my trust that my soul partner was waiting for me, or that my children adored me, or that I was an empathetic and loving friend.When the love of my life appeared, I didn't recognize him at first.It took my best friend to convince me to let him kiss me.Once our lips touched, I couldn't see anyone else.It was all him.It will always be him.

Being with the right person has given me the fortitude to write from my heart without holding anything back.It has given me the courage to go back to school at mid-life to get an MSW and ultimately become a divorce mediator.I know the pain of a long relationship ending, and I want to help others struggling with the same thing -- both with what I share in my writing and in my future career as a social worker.
