About Laura Mae Lindo
Hello and thank you so much for your interest in learning more about my work. I am an author, educator, public speaker and success coach. I am also the Founder and Director of Dr. Lindo Productions, a consulting and professional coaching company that uses a creative approach to self-development to help workplace leaders better their personal and professional lives.
My own journey to the helping professions began in 2005. My first daughter was born that February, and I was only months away from graduating from a Masters program in Education. My partner had been experiencing a sudden onset of severe back pain, and as suddenly as the pain appeared, so did a diagnosis that would turn our worlds upside down. In April 2005, he was diagnosed with leukemia. He was only 39. He fought valiantly, and, in the midst of his health crisis, I was blessed with sufficient support to complete my degree. For the next three years, our lives were slowly returning to normal… and then another obstacle hit.
This time, as we waited for the birth of our second daughter in 2008, he found a lump in his neck. Neither of us believed that this could happen a second time, and while I had great faith in the universe continuing to provide us with increasing stability after the most difficult period in our 9-year relationship, I couldn’t ignore the twinge of fear sitting squarely in pit of my stomach. So back we went to the hospital, and just days before our second daughter would be born we received confirmation that the cancer had returned. The only option was a bone marrow transplant to try to save his life.
This prompted within me a drive for change: I needed to develop the skills to support my young family, and I needed to learn how to become a primary caregiver. When he passed away in 2012, just one year after I completed my PhD in Education, I had to learn how to support two young children, ages 7 and 3, through their grief and my own. I began studying to become a Parenting Coach through the Jai Institute, a program that provided me with much more than the ability to support the development of a new paradigm of parenting. The teachings resonated, especially those that showed us how to recognize the stories we tell ourselves about what we can and cannot achieve. Each lesson helped me to become aware of how our limiting beliefs stand in the way of allowing us to achieve our true potential. The impact on my personal and professional growth was immeasurable. I realized that these exact teaching were also applicable to my work as a Public Speaker and Motivational Educator where I focused on supporting industry leaders to become more inclusive and equity-conscious, despite their fears of speaking explicitly about social justice issues like racism, homophobia, or sexism. Through my own training I have learned that many of the obstacles to inclusivity are based on stories we have internalized that make us think that changing our organizational culture is difficult (if not entirely impossible). If we can learn to change our stories, we can build the strongest, most inclusive and equity-conscious business – businesses that will thrive in today’s global marketplace.
When I completed my Crucial Conversations training – a program that teaches you how to stay in dialogue no matter how uncomfortable a conversation might be – parallels between approaches to success at home and in the workplace were impossible to ignore. This combined with my certification in the Law of Attraction through the Global Sciences Foundation has strengthened my understanding of the universal laws that help us to clear blocks from our path, overcome obstacles, and build our resilience in simple, yet remarkable ways. Thanks to the presidents of the Global Sciences Foundation, Dr. Joe Vitale and Dr. Steve G. Jones, Ed.D., I have developed a clear understanding of what is needed to bring success to my personal and professional life. And these are the secrets to success that I present to the readers of my written work, the participants in my workshops, my personal and professional coaching clients, and audiences at my public speaking events.
