Uma Thurman Calls Off Wedding To Billionaire
Is she the next Jennifer Aniston?
Uma Thurman called off her engagement to billionaire Arpad Busson about two months ago, according to Us Weekly, but a source says the two are still friends. Uma and Arki, as friends call him, got engaged in June of last year and were rumored to be planning an April wedding, but we guess now it’s back to Us and OK!'s sad spinster page for Uma. Hmm. Maybe she'd like to date John Mayer.
After divorcing Ethan Hawke, her husband of six years, in 2004, Uma dated hotelier Andre Balazs for two years, and then began dating Arki, who has two children with model Elle MacPherson, in 2007. Cindy Adams's column in The New York Post dishes that one possible reason behind the breakup might be that Arki lost a bundle in the Bernie Madoff scam; Uma has also recently ratcheted up her work schedule after making no films in 2007 and only one this year. She has five slated for release in 2010. Combining Work And Love: Is It Possible?
Adams also says that Uma and Arki had a fight, she walked out, and he ended the relationship. Which seems like kind of a hasty way to throw out a two-year relationship to us, but what do we know about dating really rich people? Stay Together or Break Up? How To Decide Now
Whatever the reason, we're sure Uma, who has two kids with Ethan, 11-year-old Maya and 7-year-old Roan, will be fine. It's not like she's hurting for cash, and even though there were some Brad-and-Angelina–like allegations toward the end of her marriage to Ethan, she doesn't occupy that poor-poor-pitiful girl slot the tabloids are so eager to shove Jennifer Aniston into. Maybe now Quentin Tarantino will write something completely awesome for her again. She'd make an excellent inglourious basterd, wouldn't she?
