Who Is Melyssa Ford? Meet Video Vixen Once Caught In Love Triangle With Drake And Toccara Jones
She revealed the love triangle on a recent podcast.
Getty In the 1990s, you were hard-pressed to find a more popular or in-demand video vixen than her.
After being discovered working as a bartender in Toronto by a legendary video director named Little X, she was catapulted into superstardom. She is, perhaps, most famous for her appearance in the Jay-Z video for the classic track, "Big Pimpin'," though she appeared in at least 10 high-profile hip hop videos over the course of her career.
Now, however, she's making headlines because it was recently revealed that she was caught in a love triangle between Drake and Toccara Jones, who was a contestant on America's Next Top Model and a friend of hers.
So, who is Melyssa Ford, and what was the outcome of the so-called Drake love triangle? Let's look at what we know about her and how this love triangle came to be.
1. Who is Melyssa Ford? She was a video vixen-turned-radio host and reality star.
After getting discovered by Little X — who directed videos for the likes of Sean Paul, Kanye West, and Justin Bieber, and served as a consultant to the classic film Belly — Ford went on to appear in a variety of music videos for the likes of artists like Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, and Sisqo. She also graduated from New York University with a degree in forensic psychology, and after she stopped starring in music videos, went on to host a radio show on Sirius XM satellite radio.
2. She was in a severe accident in June 2018 that forced her into temporary retirement.
In June 2018, Ford was involved in a serious car crash with an 18-wheeler while she was on the Ventura Freeway in Los Angeles, CA. The 18-wheeler clipped her right back tire, causing her Jeep to flip three times before landing upside down. She suffered a skull fracture, received a 10-inch gash across her face that required several stitches, and endured a concussion that left her in the hospital. The extent of her injuries forced her into temporary retirement, and she didn't return to her hosting duties on the radio show, Hollywood Unlocked, until April 2019.
3. Ford used to star on Bravo's Blood Sweat & Heels.
For two seasons, Ford was one of several stars on the hit Bravo show Blood Sweat & Heels. The show chronicled the lives of several Black women who lived in New York City; Ford's storyline focused on her struggles with becoming a realtor when she had such a recognizable face. The show was canceled after two seasons.
4. She admitted on her podcast that she and Toccara Jones were in a Drake love triangle.
On a recent episode of her podcast called I'm Here for the Food, which you can hear in the video above, Ford invited her friend — America's Next Top Model alum Toccara Jones — to the podcast. It was there that they revealed that they were both "dealing with the same dude" at the same time. Jones stressed the importance of women "sticking together" (hence the episode title "Chicks over D***s") before Ford revealed that "the same dude" was Drake.
5. When she found out that she and Jones were dating Drake at the same time, she dumped Drake.
“I just want to finish it off by saying this: there was no way I was losing my friend to this guy, no matter who the f*ck he was. I was not losing my girlfriend,” said Ford. She also said that she "eventually" had a conversation with Drake about this love triangle, and called him a "h*e a**" for dating the two of them at the same time.
6. Drake has not responded to the revelation.
As of this writing, Drake has not responded to the revelation that came out on Ford's podcast or to Ford or Jones' comments about their past "love triangle" with him. However, we will keep you posted if the "Hotline Bling" rapper does, indeed, respond to the revelation.
