50 New Year's Resolutions Every Single Person Should Be Making In 2020
Have you posted your #10yearchallenge yet?
Believe it or not, 2019 is nearly over, which not only means the end of another year full of ups and downs, but it's the end of an entire decade.
You may be busy finding the perfect before and after photos for the #10yearchallenge trending on Facebook, or focusing on staying fit through the holidays so you can keep to last year's resolutions, but it's important to remember to look back on the past ten years with a critical eye.
A lot of really important, shocking and saddening major events have happened in the past 10 years from 2010 until 2019 that we'll never forget, and we should use this opportunity — as we come fresh into the new year and the new decade — to learn from the past and make ourselves better for the future.
We entered the last decade with the beginning of Barack Obama's presidency, which spanned two full terms, and then in 2017 President Donald Trump took office.
The United States suffered from a slew of devastating mass shootings, including at a movie theater Aurora, Colorado, Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012, the shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida in 2016 and the Las Vegas strip in 2017 — which, to date, remains the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
In the past decade we've experienced the largest tornadoes ever recorded, devastating tsunamis, record-breaking floods and the strongest-ever category 5 hurricanes.
We've celebrated amazing victories, too, including the legalization of same-sex marriage in all 50 states in 2015, we finally left our own solar system, created self-driving cars, made huge advancements in artificial intelligence and achieved quantum supremacy.
Ubering, binge-watching and streaming content is now the norm, the moon race is back on, weed legalization is a constant debate and the opioid crisis is on the rise.
There's so much change — both good and bad — that we've experienced in the past ten years, so before 2019 ends, take a minute to look back on your life, your experiences and how you've interacted with the world so that you can decide to use these next years to be even better.
That's what new year's resolutions are all about, right? Changing yourself for the better.
A lot of us use the end of the year and the holidays filled with presents and food as an excuse to overlook the things we don't like about ourselves and our lives, but maybe it's time to look at things a little more positively. Over the next few weeks as we wrap up 2019, try to find the things you are proud of, the things that we changed for the better, and use those as inspiration to push beyond our comfort zones to make a real difference in the years ahead.
Below we've gathered some of the best new year's resolutions that focus on making you better.
