Rapper Baby Soulja Charged With Murder — What We Know

Instagram Another day, another rapper charged with another crime. This time, however, it's a rapper that's been charged with murder. Who is Baby Soulja, and what happened here?
Born Charles Doles in Jacksonville, Florida, the man who would become Baby Soulja didn't follow the legendary rapper Kool G Rap's advice when he said, "you can either be a gangster, or you can be a rapper, but you can't be both." Though Jacksonville is a pretty hot, hip, up-and-coming city with a lot of opportunities, Doles always seemed to find himself in some mess or another before he became famous...and even afterward.
Let's look at what we know about the latest mess that Baby Soulja got himself involved in.
1. He was arrested for his role in a murder.
According to XXL Magazine, Baby Soulja was charged with a series of crimes relating to the May 19, 2019 murder of Dorian Brooks in Savannah, Georgia. The outlet reports that Baby Soulja was arrested by the New York-New Jersey Joint Task Force (as he'd made his way up north), where he was extradited to Georgia on counts of "malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault. He also faces three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony," reported the outlet.
2. This isn't the first time Baby Soulja has been arrested for some bone-headed nonsense.
Vlad TV reports that Baby Soulja was previously arrested back in 2012 for battery and for the discharge of a missile launcher into an abandoned building. According to the outlet, Baby Soulja committed the ultimate Florida Man crime when he was showing off a missile launcher that he'd just bought (okay, where, how, and ARE YOU KIDDING ME?). The missile launcher went off and fired a missile into an abandoned building (fortunately, no one was hurt), and Baby Soulja was brought into custody by the Palm Beach County Sherriff's Office.
3. He was originally thought to be dead.
Thanks to some rumors spread on the Internet, this very site reported that Baby Soulja was thought to be dead. He is not, in fact, dead.
4. But don't worry, folks, Baby Soulja is alive and well.
Lest you thought you'd miss the opportunity to see yet another rapper launching yet another missile into an abandoned building, the Jacksonville, Florida, affiliate of CBS News confirmed that Baby Soulja is alive and well.
5. Earlier this year, he was arrested on a weapons charge.
Real winner, this one. "Baby Soulja was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and assault with a firearm after being arrested in 2018. The incident went down outside of a recording studio, during which Baby Soulja allegedly pistol-whipped fellow rapper, Kolyon, during a game of dice. However, once he was released from jail, he took to Instagram to clarify that he was on good terms with Kolyon," reported Hollywood Life.
6. If convicted of these latest crimes, Baby Soulja could spend the rest of his life in prison.
According to the Jacksonville affiliate of NBC News, if Baby Soulja is convicted of these latest charges, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
