Iggy Azalea Claps Back At T.I.'s Claims That She Is A 'Blunder'
The Iggy feuds continue.
Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has seemingly become more known for her many feuds than her actual music. Her latest feud involves T.I. and began after he had some not so nice things to say about the artist, who he took under his wing, during a recent interview with 'The Breakfast Club.'
On October 9, T.I. said, “I’m still actively looking for another female rapper who can undo the blunder of Iggy Azalea. That is the tarnish of my legacy as far as [being] a [music] executive is concerned. To me, this is like when Michael Jordan went to play baseball.” Yikes.
Iggy was not too happy about what he had to say and took it upon herself to share a few words of her own in a few now-deleted tweets, putting T.I. on blast. "Please move on and speak about artists you are (hopefully) actually helping, and stop trying to bring me up for relevance. I don’t bring your ass up, NO ONE is asking about you. I’m tryna be nice because I genuinely have better and more interesting things happening," she wrote. "But seeing a man speaking out of his *sshole and blurting [out] one thing in public and another in private for years is really infuriating. Keep it pushing sweetie & worry about what your next storyline is for family hustle."
Iggy was infuriated when T.I. took credit for her fame and even blamed her for "tarnishing his legacy" as a music executive. To make matters worse, he also shared his discomfort from her arrogance in her *very public* feuds and even exposed her aim to target specific audiences. "As far as I'm concerned, I feel like when she found out white people liked her, she didn't really need black people to like her anymore. She switched up, started acting different, made moves that I wasn't proud of, that kind of placed my reputation in the line of fire," T.I. told The Breakfast Club. "And she was very arrogant about it."
According to BET, Iggy claimed that T.I. only helped her write one song, "100," and that he also tried to re-sign her in 2017. "I don’t understand how you could think you were responsible for something you never even heard until it was mixed and mastered," she continued. "I think about it but honestly what do I get out of that?" Here's everything you need to know about the T.I./Iggy Azalea feud.
1. T.I. cut ties with Iggy in 2017
T.I. said cut professional ties with Iggy Azalea, the divisive Australian rapper he signed to his Grand Hustle label and helped introduce to America, during an interview with New York radio station Hot 97.
According to Rolling Stone, T.I. said that the two “took a bit of a rest stop,” adding they really weren't on great terms anymore. T.I. shared that the reason was due to Azalea’s Twitter feud with Azealia Banks, where she said her song with the same title as Banks' was better. T.I. tweeted that Azalea needed to be more cognizant of her actions and understand how it affects her image.
2. She lashed out on Lizzo last month
Lizzo’s widely successful single "Truth Hurts" has remained in the #1 spot on Billboard for over 4 weeks and has officially tied with Iggy’s song "Fancy" for charting the #1 spot as a female rapper. Lizzo promoted her single on Twitter asking fans to play the song to tie with "Fancy's" record, however, in the tweet below, she did not credit Iggy and instead mentioned her friend Charlie XCX, who was featured on the song. Iggy did not take this well and responded with a since-deleted tweet that said: “I could have SWORN I was the one rapping that song but okay…” She also told her fans to stream the song "Senorita" instead.
3. Iggy is releasing a single on November 8th
According to Iggy’s Instagram page, she’s about to release a new single and has made a dramatic effort by removing all of her previous posts, leaving just the photo announcing the single’s release date. The track is titled "Lola" and doesn’t have much context so far to give away what it could be about.
4. Her recent promo photo sparked plastic surgery rumors
The Australian rapper just released the artwork for her upcoming single “Lola” and she’s practically unrecognizable in the photo. She has admitted to getting a breast enhancement and a nose job but has not commented on any other work. Hollywood Life noted that "Iggy’s nose seems even slimmer, her lips have a noticeable pout to them and her cheekbones are more prominent in the pic."
5. Halsey said she would never put Iggy on her album
In an interview with The Guardian, Halsey had some not so nice things to say about Azalea. “There’s a lot of people I wouldn’t put on my record,” she said. “Iggy Azalea— absolutely not. She had a complete disregard for black culture. F*cking moron. I watched her career dissolve and it fascinated me.”
According to Billboard, Iggy responded on an Australian talk show saying, “I thought it was a bit of a strange thing to throw that out there, but she's young and I hope she learns maybe to be a bit less judgmental when she's kind of in the same shoes.”
6. She caught her fiancé cheating in 2016
Whether you are team Iggy or not, you couldn’t help but feel terrible for her when the news broke that her fiancé cheated on her. “I broke up with Nick because I found out he had brought other women into our home while I was away and caught them on the security footage,” Azalea, 26, tweeted to her more than 6 million Twitter followers.
“This is just like a second shot to the chest. And I feel like I don’t even know who the hell it is I’ve been loving all this time,” she added. “People in this world really are f—ked up.”
