The Masked Singer Spoilers: Who Is The Flamingo?
The 'Masked Singer' comes back tonight and we have thoughts!
Instagram Wednesday is one of the most anticipated nights of the fall TV season: The Masked Singer is back and we have the spoilers. Specifically, who is the Flamingo?
Last year, the hit series showed a group of unnamed celebrities dressed in costumes that looked like Drag Race contestants on Halloween and had them all perform musical numbers on stage. A panel of judges that included Jenny McCarthy, Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong, and Nicole Scherzinger listened to the performances and had to guess who each performer was.
As goofy as the premise sounds, the show was a huge hit with audiences. Everyone from the judges to audiences on social media had a guess about who the different singers were.
Margaret Cho donned a pink Poodle costume and belted out Pat Benatar's "Heartbreaker." Joey Fatone hopped into a Rabbit costume and gave is "Living La Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin. And Gladys Knight made an appearance as a Bee and sang the heck out of "Wrecking Ball" by Miley Cyrus.
This new season airs Wednesday nights on Fox has fans already have their guesses from the first few episodes. The same panel of judges is back to share in the fun and Nick Cannon has resumed hosting duties.
The past accolades heaped on the contestants are pretty impressive as well. Combined they have 69 Emmy Award nominations, 42 Grammy Award nominations, 22 Broadway shows, three New York Times Best Sellers, and two have been named Time magazine’s Most Influential People.
And the costumes? Let's just say that they are more fantastic than before. There's a Tree, a Butterfly, and a Flamingo taking the stage, to name just a few. So, who is the Flamingo? We have guesses for you right here.
The Flamingo's clues video is a combination of bird jokes and subtle hints about identity. Host Nick Cannon says the pink bird is taking a break from the tropics suggesting someone who's been on a beach recently.
The Flamingo claims to have "a leg up on the competition" which could be a joke about the one leg pose wild flamingos adopt or possibly a reference to the singer being someone who can dance as well as sing. Then the Flamingo says they like their mask as much as they like mascara, which screams that whoever is under there is just as glam as the costume itself.
2. Judge Guesses
I won't lie: when I saw a mascara-loving Flamingo, I really, really hoped it would be RuPaul. But when FOX dropped a clip of the Flamingo performing, it was clearly a woman singing so no Drag Race crossover for this bird.
When the feathered singer started belting out "Lady Marmalade," the judges all went silent to listen closer. The singer clearly has skills and can carry the song, but the judge panel didn't seem to have a clue who was making the music.
3. Internet Guesses
Audiences of this show always hope someone from the Kardashian/Jenner clan will appear so the mascara hint had some fans wondering if makeup mogul Kylie Jenner was taking the stage. Others wondered if it was Demi Lovato, who has been taking a break from music but might be ready for a big comeback.
Distractify notes that she has been back in the studio lately and this might be great promo for a new project. However, the overwhelming suspicion is that it's Adrienne Bailon Houghton, former Cheetah Girl and current host of The Real.
Oprah Mag notes that fans of the Cheetah Girls were convinced the voice is an exact match and they hit up Twitter saying things like "Girl that's Chanel," referencing Houghton's character in the 2003 Disney movie The Cheetah Girls. Another fan said, "Y'all really thought y'all were gonna fool us Disney kids with this one? Lmao."
4. Best Guesses
While it would be all kinds of awesome for Demi Lovato to announce a new album after being unmasked, we have to hand it to the internet here and say the best guess is Adrienne Bailon Houghton.
The voice match is way too close to ignore. And as for mascara? The Disney star has her own YouTube channel where she shares beauty tips. The internet probably has this one right.
5. Twitter Guesses
Twitter guesses have ranged from Youtuber Liza Koshy to Tyra Banks to Tia Mowry. Guess we'll have to wait and see!
