Meet Claudia Sulewski — Finneas O'Connell's Girlfriend Whose YouTube Channel Has Over 2 Million Subscribers
The song "Claudia" is about her.
When we witness the emergence of an incredibly talented person, it gives us hope that we can all follow our dreams. And with the breakout success of singer Billie Eilish, who is only 17 years old, any doubt we’ve had during the recent influx of wannabe rappers has been replaced with ease and excitement.
Of course, aside from her insanely catchy songs, pseudo-weirdo presence on stage, and refreshing attitude, Eilish isn’t currently dating anyone. Her brother, on the other hand, is quite smitten with his girlfriend. Finneas O’Connell, known for producing and writing all the songs on Eilish’s debut album, hasn’t been shy about expressing his love.
Who is Claudia Sulewski? Here are six things to know about her career, personal life, and her relationship with Finneas O'Connell AKA FINNEAS (his stage name.)
1. She’s a social media influencer.
Sulewski is mostly known for her presence on YouTube. She quickly gained followers, and eventually became the official YouTube host for Teen Vogue, acting as their representative at premieres and award shows. Her YouTube channel currently has over 2 million subscribers and has 4.5 million views per month. On Instagram, she has 1.3 million followers.
But the content she creates involve things we can relate to. She makes beauty tutorials, vlogs from her travels, and has been part of the YouTube series, AwesomenessTV. It took her a bit to find her niche, though, as she had no idea what she was doing. In an interview with Business Insider, she revealed, “My first video was me stealing my mom’s blue eyeshadow.”
2. She had other aspirations and moved to Los Angeles.
At just 18 years old, Sulewski moved to LA to figure out what to do next. She didn’t want to be known as just a YouTuber.
In a video where she discussed comments from her fans about the quality of her videos since her move, she said, “It’s so weird to be having this conversation with you guys. The reason why I moved out to LA was not for my YouTube channel. It was because of my YouTube channel,” adding that she wished to expand herself. “I don’t want YouTube to be my forever.”
3. She showed an interest in acting.
On getting into acting, she revealed to Business Insider, “That acting bug just hit me, 100 percent. No one told me the etiquette of auditions,” then adding that she would make conversation with everyone in the audition room, and didn’t realize it was supposed to be a quick event. “I would love to see my old audition tapes.”
She’s been in a few productions on YouTube, including “The Commute” and “t@gged.” But it’s not without its downfalls: “Through all of this, my YouTube channel has definitely suffered.”
4. She launched a fashion line.
In a collaboration with Nordstrom BP, Sulewski helped created a collection of clothing and accessories. “It felt like the perfect opportunity because it’s a brand that I’ve been a fan of for so long, and I felt like being able to collaborate and bring the two minds together. You know? Something really special was going to come out of it,” she told Teen Vogue.
In an interview with the publication, she discussed the collaboration, her style, and how she wants people to view it: “It’s a little bit of everything. We’ve got shoes and clothes and jewelry and hair scrunchies and pajamas. I really feel like there's something for everyone, which is exciting... I wanted it to feel fun and funky... We really wanted to embrace feminine, edgy, funky, and sporty looks all in one, because I can’t even put a label on my personal style.”
5. O'Connell wrote a song about her.
And he wrote it the day they met! How sweet is that? He called the song “Claudia” because, of course, adding, “I wrote the song ‘Claudia’ about Claudia the day that I met Claudia, and I sent it to her the night that I met Claudia.”
6. She bears a resemblance to Billie.
Each has dark hair and light eyes, and the Twitter community is having a field day with how alike they look. Others just weren’t having it.
