Rapper Megan Thee Stallion And Jordyn Woods Are Reportedly BFFs Now — All The Deets On Their Friendship

A source for E! News said Kylie was “very torn on how to handle the situation,” and that “Khloe is more disappointed that someone so close to their family would betray her. She can’t believe it. She is angry more than she is sad. And she’s shocked Jordyn would do this. Of all the guys in the world, she can’t fathom why Jordyn would make a decision like this.”
While Kylie has seemed to move on and has switched up her girl squad, which now includes besties Anastasia Karanikolaou, Heather Sanders, Sofia Richie (who’s dating Kourtney’s ex, Scott Disick), Ariel Tejada, Yris Palmer, and Victoria Villarroel, Jordyn has made new friends as well.
Who is Megan Thee Stallion? During Kylie’s trip to Italy with her group, Jordyn hung out with the 'Hot Girl Summer' rapper. But they’ve really only been talking since June, primarily complimenting each other on social media. What else do we know about Megan, who dubbed herself “Hot Meg” and coined the phrase “hot girl summer”?
1. Her mom influenced her.
Megan credits her mom, Holly Thomas, with influencing her to get a degree in Health Administration and work in assisted living facilities. Thomas was also once a rapper named Holly-Wood, and would bring Megan to her recording sessions when she was little.
Megan told her mom she wanted to rap, and began writing her own raps at 16 years old. Thomas told her to wait until she was 21, though she was impressed with her daughter’s skills.
Unfortunately, Thomas passed away in March 2019 from a brain tumor. But her confidence comes from her mom. In an interview with Paper Magazine, she revealed:
“We used to be in the car, going back and forth all the time. I feel like off the strength that my mom was a rapper, and the music that her and my dad put in my ear as a child, it was bound to happen. Me watching her write and me watching her go in the studio and lay her verses down. Just to see how dedicated she was, that was normal to me.
That just became the thing that I saw around my house. We bumping Pimp C, we listening to Three 6 all the time, we listening to Biggie. You know what I’m saying? I’ve always been a big fan of music. Just me growing up and turning into Meg Thee Stallion, this is a product of my environment.”
2. She eventually went viral.
In 2013, a video was posted of Megan battling male opponents while attending Prairie View A&M University. She then gained a social media following and fans, and began posting her freestyles on Instagram. Megan credits her “hyperactive fan base” for her success and refers to them as “hotties.”
In 2016, she released her first mixtape, “Rich Ratchet,” and her first EP, “Make It Hot,” in 2017. She signed with 1501 Certified Ent. in 2018, performing at SXSW that same year. In June 2018, she released another EP called “Tina Snow,” named after her alter ego, described as “a more raw version” of herself. She signed with 300 Entertainment in late 2018, the first female rapper to be signed by the label.
She received her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 in April 2019, and released her first full-length mixtape, “Fever,” in May 2019.
3. The LAPD shut down her music video.
While shooting the video for “Hot Girl Summer,” which features Ty Dolla $ign and Nicki Minaj, the LAPD shut it down because production didn’t have the proper permits. A neighbor called the police, even though Megan and Nicki were ready and in costume.
The shoot eventually moved from LA’s Mount Olympus neighborhood to Chino Hills in San Bernardino. Eventually, the shoot was completed, and the video is expected to be released in the near future.
4. She’s trademarking “hot girl summer.”
Though she originally joked about having it trademarked, she’s apparently going through the process now. What does the phrase mean? Megan explained it on Twitter:
Brands like Wendy’s and Forever 21 have used the phrase, and Megan filed the paperwork on July 10, which could lead her to make her own merchandise.
Megan further explained the term to Paper Magazine, adding, “I don’t know what made it a competition. It was the stupid boys. It just turned into a whole big ol’ thing. Now if it was a competition, I would definitely say that the Hot Girls have been in the lead. The Hot Boys is acting up...they showing some very ratchet behavior that has not been that cute. They talking about they wins and they doing grimy stuff. I’m like, ‘No baby, that’s not how you get points.’”
