14-Year-Old YouTube Star Banned For Racist Content Threatens YouTube Headquarters
So much hate in such a little girl.
YouTube Recently 14-year-old YouTuber, Soph, has made headlines all over the country. She is famous for making hateful videos, mostly directed at the Muslim and LGBTQ+ communities. After YouTube found cause to terminate her account, she wrote a tweet threatening YouTube headquarters. Now everyone is wondering, who is Soph?
1. Known for hateful videos
Soph is known for her videos containing hate and disdain for different groups of people. Most famously she attacks the LGBTQ+ community and the Muslim community. In a video posted in May of this year, Soph dressed up as a Muslim girl her own age and joked about being raped by her 40-year-old husband. She then went on to say she was going to "San Francisco to stone the sh*t out of some gays." The point of her video being that the Muslim community is the true threat to the LGBTQ+ community.
2. Police investigation
Soph has been the subject of two police investigations so far in her short life. The first was due to a threat she made in the video YouTube: Parental Discretion Advised. In the introduction of the video she says, “Susan, I’ve known your address since last summer. I’ve got a Luger and a mitochondrial disease. I don’t care if I live. Why should I care if you live or your children? I just called an Uber. You’ve got about seven minutes to draft up a will. … I’m coming for you, and it ain’t gonna be pretty.” The police eventually decided that this wasn't a credible threat, as the young teen didn't have access to fire arms.
3. And a full walk out!
The second police investigation came after Soph's fellow students were outraged by the content she was putting online, and they wanted to let her and everyone know that something had to be done. The students arranged a walk out attracting the attention of the authorities. One student told a local news station, “It just disgusts me personally. I can’t believe she’d say that if she serious, if she’s being funny — it’s not funny and she needs to learn that it’s really not funny.”
4. Most recent anti-gay video
Recently she posted a video in where she donned a short haired wig and an LGBTQ+ tee shirt and recorded a video entitled Pride and Prejudice. This video was meant to voice her distaste toward the gay community. Quoting the video she says, “Unfortunately, as you know, last month was Pride, which meant we all had to endure 30-days of AIDS-carrying pedophile victims patting themselves on their backs for their lifestyles. I had an especially hard time considering that I live in California where there was a puddle of diseased load waiting for me whenever I dared to step out of my house."
5. Too young for all of the hate
When Soph first started releasing videos, they didn't quite cross over the line far enough to where YouTube could take her videos down. The first time her account was deleted, YouTube said that the platform was for people over the age of 13, (which she wasn't at the time). At that time they didn't comment on the content of her videos. When it comes to areas of harassment and hate, it tends "to be quite hard in terms of actually determining where you draw the lines or don’t draw the lines", said a spokesperson for YouTube.
6. Channel: Terminated.
At the end of the video Pride and Prejudice, Soph went down a rabbit hole of threats. The most bone chilling of them all is when she asks viewers to "make sure to blame me in your manifestos." This is a direct reference to the sort of document posted by the Christchurch, New Zealand shooter who in killed 51 people in March. The video earned Soph a strike which was her third strike in 90 days. According to YouTube policies, three strikes in 90 days will lead to termination of the user's account.
7. Threats to headquarters!
After her channel was terminated, she quickly ran to Twitter. She posted a picture of herself with a gun, writing: "YouTube headquarters here I come." Later she deleted the tweet saying that it was "obviously a joke." Even though she can't post her videos on YouTube anymore, she is still able to post on other video streaming sites. She is even selling merchandise.
