They reportedly broke up in June — but did it take? A source close to Dakota told Hollywood Life that the two called it quits earlier this summer after two years together, but it didn't stick. Chris Martin arrived at the premiere for Dakota Johnson's new movie, The Peanut Butter Falcon with her parents. He wanted the night to be about Dakota, so Chris avoided the red carpet and photographers. He sat with Dakota's parents Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson. The source said that Martin "made it a point weeks ago to clear his schedule." Also: “It was always Chris’ plan to be able to be there for her and support.”
2. They frolicked in the surf in the Hamptons
Last weekend, Page Six reported that the are-they-or-arent-they couple were on the beach in the Hamptons living it up. The 42-year-old singer and 29-year-old actress were gettng handsy and flirting while they splashed around in the water. At one point, Martin gave Johnson a piggy back ride. More recently, the two were spotted at a Rolling Stones concert together.
3. Did they even break up?
According to sources close to the couple, their breakup only lasted a few days. It caught their fans by suprise mainly because there had been rumors that Martin was about to propose to Johnson at the end of 2018. However, he reportedly waited due to his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow's wedding to Brad Falchuk. He didn't want to get in the way and wanted to make sure his kids with Gwyneth, Apple and Moses, didn't have to deal with too much change all at once.
4. What about Dua Lipa?
Two weeks after Chris and Dakota broke up, Chris was spotted kissing pop star Dua Lipa at the Glastonbury Music Festival in the U.K. At the time, the press was foaming at the mouth wondering if Martin and Dua were a new item. Now, it looks like that kiss may have just been a friendly smooch between two musicians as news that Martin and Johnson's breakup wasn't lengthy breaks.
