Tracy Morgan doesn’t seem to have much luck with cars. After a tragic accident in 2014 left him reeling from the hurt — and left his longtime collaborator dead — fans were wondering if Tracy Morgan would ever recover.
The good news is, not only did he recover, he came back better than ever.
The bad news is, just a few days ago, he was in yet another accident that destroyed his just-purchased Bugatti.
Here’s what we know about Jocelyn Madulid, the woman responsible for the crash.
1. She said Tracy Morgan threatened her.
According to CBS New York, Jocelyn Madulid can’t understand why Tracy Morgan was so upset with her talking on the phone and crashing into his Bugatti, which he’d literally just purchased. So, she told the news outlet that Morgan “threatened her” when she got out of the car.
“‘You are on your phone. You are going to jail.’ He said it so many times. I said, ‘I wasn’t on my phone. I just called my boss now because you scared me,'” Madulid said to the outlet. She also said that Morgan continued banging on her car and cursing at her until police arrived.
2. The accident happened in New York City.
PopCulture reports that the accident happened in New York City, which is a notoriously difficult city to drive in. Madulid said that she was driving in her Honda CR-V and was attempting to make a left turn onto 10th Avenue from the right lane on 42nd Street (which is really not a smart idea under the best of circumstances, but an even worse idea in New York City), when she hit Tracy.
“I was driving. I heard somebody hit me. I felt boom,” Madulid said to the outlet. “He was yelling at me, I got scared. I didn’t yell anything back. I just stayed in my car.”
3. Witnesses say Jocelyn Madulid destroyed a $2 million car.
Heavy spoke to a witness who was at the scene of the Tracy Morgan crash. He told the outlet that Tracy Morgan was not only cursing at Jocelyn Madulid, he was justifiably upset.
“He said he got it literally an hour ago and he paid $2 million for it. He just bought it, dude, and it’s pretty scraped up. It still had a dealer tag,” the witness told the outlet.
Later, it was revealed that Morgan had purchased a pre-owned 2012 Bugatti for about $2 million from Manhattan Motors. The Bugatti still had the price tag on it when Madulid smashed it up.
4. No one was injured, and no charges were filed — but Jocelyn Maludid is blaming Tracy Morgan for the crash.
The sole small favor that can be said about this entire accident is that no one was injured in the crash, and no charges were filed against either Jocelyn Madulid or Tracy Morgan, according to Page Six.
The outlet also spoke to Maludid, who is claiming that Tracy Morgan was at fault, even though she was the one who made a left turn from the right lane.
“We are both turning right — people are still crossing,” she said. “So what happened is we’re both turning right. But I know he hit me because I was already [turning]. I was there, he was the one who hit me!” she said.
