5 Zodiac Signs With A Martyr Complex
They're always the victim.
Everyone has encountered someone with a victim mentally. We refer to these people as having a martyr complex and playing the victim. These people feel that everything bad always happens to them, and the terrible things that happen are never their responsibility.
Someone with a victim mentality wants pity, and they aren’t afraid to cry and have a meltdown in order to get it. And if we look to astrology to determine these personality types, there are certain zodiac signs who have a propensity for being a victim.
Since people with victim mentalities crave attention, the best thing for them is to not praise, pity, or remark on their victimhood. Their “poor me” attitude affects every part of their lives including putting a strain on their relationships, making any kind of interaction with a stranger more complicated than it needs to be, and it often gets in the way of their achievements.
If you always expect to fail or think that all your successes are only temporary, you end up holding yourself back and being too afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Martyrs do things so others will praise them for being selfless and self-sacrificing.
Some people feel like it’s their mission in life to cheer up a person with a victim mentality, thinking that if they could just convince them how special they are, the person would snap out of it. However, it’s more likely that someone with a martyr complex would pull the other person down rather than be lifted up.
1. CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancer individuals are constantly doing things for other people, and when they don't get the praise they believe they're entitled to, they can develop a martyr complex. The more their resentment grows, the more they believe that everybody but them is a selfish jerk.
Cancers don't see that it could be the energy they're giving off, or that it has anything to do with them. They just can't believe their bad luck to be associated with thoughtless, insensitive people.
2. LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
If Libra is feeling taken advantage of or resentful, they will stuff those feelings back down until they erupt. They'll explain how they don't appreciate having to do everything for everybody and sacrificing their time, energy, money, but getting very little thanks in return.
Why does Libra have to beg to be shown some appreciation? People should want to shower this zodiac sign with praise for everything they do.
3. PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
When bad things happen, Pisces is the first to point out that it's not their fault — they were only trying to help. And sure, maybe they didn't fully think it through, or maybe they gave someone another chance who didn't deserve it, but that's not on them.
Pisces doesn't feel the need to own up to anything because, clearly, it had nothing to do with them. They were just unlucky enough to be the target.
4. VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgo prides themselves on how conscientious they are and how they hold themselves to the highest of standards. So when something goes wrong, it's not their fault.
Virgos are the ultimate fixers, so if they make a situation worse or can't put something that was broken back together, it must be the universe conspiring against them. If they did something that came back around to bite them on the butt, they'll blame outside forces.
5. CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorns have a problem trusting — they've been hurt before and they'd rather it didn't happen again. Capricorns tend to be suspicious of everyone's motives and are pretty sure everyone feels threatened by them on some level.
If they have a wall around them, it's because the world is an unsafe place, and people will use and abuse you if you let down your guard.
