Who Is Michael Kopech? New Details On Brielle Biermann's Pro Baseball Ex — Who Moved On And Married Vanessa Morgan
He has a new wife.
We all know that celebrity relationships have their ups and downs, but the same goes for reality television stars. In 2018, Brielle Biermann, daughter of Real Housewives of Atlanta and Don't Be Tardy star Kim Zolciak, split from her pro-baseball ex.
But who is Michael Kopech? It appears he moved on quite quickly from Biermann, and recently tied the knot with Riverdale star Vanessa Morgan. Here's what we know about his wedding, as well as his relationship with Morgan.
1. Who is Michael Kopech? He's from Texas.
Michael Kopech was born April 30, 1996 in Mount Pleasant, Texas. He went to Mount Pleasant High School where he earned 2014 Perfect Game First Team All American honors. He commited to the University of Arizona, but was drafted in the first round with the 33rd overall selection of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox.
He recieved a $1.6 million signing bonus from the Red Sox and started his professional baseball career with the Rookie Level Gulf Coast League Red Sox in 2014. Currently, Kopech plays for the Chicago White Sox after being traded to the team in 2016, and making his major league debut in August 2018.
2. He had to undergo surgery.
After a rocky start to his career on the White Sox, in September 2018, Kopech had to undergo Tommy John surgery. General manager Rich Hahn said Kopech suffered a "rather significant tear" in his ulnar collateral ligament.
3. Luckily, he's got quite a powerful arm.
Back in January 2017, after being drafted to the White Sox, during an offseason workout, Kopech was unofficially clocked throwing a 110 MPH pitch! How's that for talent?
4. Kopech and Morgan began dating in 2018.
After he and Biermann split in March 2018, he was soon seen with the Riverdale actress. In July 2018, Morgan posted a photo on Instagram of her and Kopech in front of a helicopter with her arms around him. They also spend Fourth of July weekend together, with Morgan tweeting that Kopech was her "fav person" while they watched fireworks together.
5. Kopech dated Biermann for two years.
The reality star and baseball player began dating in May 2016 after a mutual acquaintence, who also plays baseball, introduced them. Kopech reached out to Brielle on Twitter and their romance took off.
Unfortunately, they split after two years together. Biermann also revealed that Kopech originally wanted to take a break for a year, but expected Brielle to wait for him while he sowed his proverbial oats. She wasn't going to have any of that.
Instead, she said to him, "'I’m not gonna wait on you, dude. You clearly wanna go f*** around. You think I’m stupid? I’m not stupid. I’m not gonna be waiting for you to return. I have a life, too.' He was like, ‘In a year, we can date.’ I was like, ‘Are you insane? No.'"
6. Morgan and Kopech tied the knot.
On January 4th, 2020, the two got married at the Historic Walton House in Homestead, Florida. They had only been engaged for less than six months, after becoming engaged on July 4th, 2019.
In a comment to E!, Morgan said, “We both knew the first day we met that ‘this is it’ and I’m so excited that today officially starts our forever. Today, I vowed to love my best friend for a lifetime and it was a day spent with those we love in a room filled with endless love. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him.”
In a small wedding of about 40 guests, Morgan's co-stars also attended, including Skeet Ulrich, Drew Tanner and Madelaine Petsch.
Congrats to the happy couple!
