6 Overprotective Zodiac Signs Who Need To Loosen Their Grip

getty We all need people in our lives who look out for us and try to shield us from pain. The problem is that when those people become overprotective, their concern and love is too intense and can be stifling. Such is the case for the most overprotective zodiac signs in all of astrology.
When someone is overprotective, it can get a little creepy. You start to feel as if you’re never alone but they’re always there looking out for you. Not only are they protecting you from the bad, but many times they are protecting you from the good too and prevent you from growing.
Though a horoscope won't always reveal it to you, overprotective people are controlling, manipulative, and often distrusting. They can’t depend on the knowledge that the people they’re overprotective of can take care of themselves.
If your partner worries about you to such an extent that they rarely let you do anything for yourself, that’s not good. You may become complacent to the point that you don’t want to do anything out of your comfort zone. Your world can become smaller and less exciting because you’re never doing anything that has an emotional or physical risk.
Sometimes we have to be allowed to fail or get hurt so we learn how to do it better. When we take risks and are successful, our confidence in ourselves grows, but if you’re prevented from doing anything out of the ordinary, you start to doubt that you can do anything. Protective is okay, but overprotective isn’t healthy.
1. CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancers, the protective mama and papa bear of the Zodiac, tend to be very needy and clingy on their own. It can be difficult for them to release their grasp on someone and allow them to do things on their own.
Cancers mean well, and they are overprotective out of love, but sometimes it can get to be too much, and the object of their controlling ways can get defensive. Cancers need to give people some space and trust that they can take care of themselves.
2. TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus' overprotective nature comes from how possessive and jealous they can be. When they're overly protective of someone, they want to control where they go, when they go, and why they're going in the first place. It's as if they must micromanage every aspect of their loved one's life.
However, that never works. When Taurus try to control someone else's life, that person can get resentful and combative. In the end, no matter how well-meaning Taurus is, they'll lose the person because they hung on too tight.
3. LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Leos care deeply about the people in their lives and they know that most people aren't as strong and brave as they are, so they can get overprotective.
They mean well, they really do, but if they can prevent someone they love from getting hurt, making a huge mistake, or even embarrassing themselves, they're going to do it. Leos enjoy thinking of themselves and being recognized as the great protector.
4. ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries are very protective by nature, but sometimes they go too far. They're willing to put everything on the line and take huge risks for the people that they love. It's just that sometimes, they don't take into consideration whether their loved one wants them to do that.
Sometimes people need to be able to fight their own battles, but Aries doesn't always take the time to consider what someone else might want before they take action. Their willingness to stand up for someone is sweet, but sometimes it feels controlling.
5. SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpios have a jealous streak and they can get extremely paranoid of the other people in their partner's life, even if these other people are clearly just friends. Out of a sense of being a protector, Scorpio will invite themselves along when their partner is going out with a friend, and they have a tendency to question all contact, especially texts, phone calls, and messages.
Scorpios want to know why your work friend needs to call you on a Sunday or why your ex friend requested you on Facebook. Scorpio's overprotectiveness can be too intense for some people.
6. CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorns are very confident that they make great choices and strong decisions, and they don't want someone they care about to make a decision they'll regret. So, Capricorn wants to be involved with all decision-making that their loved one makes so they can troubleshoot if necessary.
That's nice and thoughtful, but it's not healthy. Sometimes we need to stand behind our bad decisions so we can grow and learn from them. If the Capricorn in our lives prevents us from doing so, not only are they being overprotective, they're also being a bit condescending, as if they can't trust us to be wise on our own.
