How You Can Win Any Argument With Each Zodiac Sign

getty If you deal with other people at all, arguments are unavoidable. No one can agree on everything, all the time, which is why knowing how to win an argument can come in handy. (And if you spend too much time on social media, it might seem like no one can agree on anything, ever.)
Some people love to argue; this can be made crystal clear by following astrology and checking out an in-depth horoscope based on your zodiac sign. But it seems like no matter what anyone says, they’ll take the opposite position and start a debate. Others would rather discuss things calmly and come up with solutions, or at least a peaceful compromise.
Arguments don’t have to be about yelling and insulting each other until one person finally gives up. In fact, an “argument,” in the classical sense of the word, is a rational discussion in which people work together to find the most logical way of looking at things.
It’s only when we get attached to our own perspectives and opinions that we resist persuasion, and then a perfectly good argument turns into a nasty fight.
So many people seem to think that changing their mind is a sign of weakness. Really, though, the person who can accept opposing evidence, recognize that they’re wrong about something, and change their thinking accordingly has a much stronger mind and spirit than those who cling to their opinions and defend them no matter what.
Sometimes it’s best to just walk away from an argument — if it doesn’t really have much bearing on your life, why waste the energy? If the issue really does have a big effect on you, though, you’ll have to stand up for yourself.
Make sure you know your facts (and that you can separate them from rumors and fake news). Find out your opponent’s Sun sign so that you can prepare the most useful tactics and strategies.
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries can out-shout anyone who tries to debate them. Logic isn’t going to work, either; this sign is stubbornly dedicated to their own point of view.
If you can make them think that changing their mind was their own idea, though, you’ve got a much better chance of getting your way. (Just don’t expect them to acknowledge that you won anything.) Careful — if you take an argument with Aries too far, they might just start throwing punches.
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus is known for being just as stubborn and bull-headed as the beast for which it’s named. Once they’ve made their mind up about something, there’s not a lot that will change it.
Your best bet is to appeal to their common sense (especially if you can show them that your way is financially advantageous) or their physical senses: beauty and pleasure are Taurus’ weak spots.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
It’s easy enough to get Gemini to agree with you, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ve won anything. They’ll just as easily agree with the opposing viewpoint when someone else presents it.
Your opinion is more likely to stick in their minds if you can convince Gemini that your way really is the most popular, and that their social life will suffer if they don’t go along with you.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancer hates confrontation. When a Cancer gets pushed to the point of an argument, it usually means that they’re genuinely worried about someone they care for. You can’t win this — it’s their protective instinct kicking in.
It’ll take some time, but they’ll calm down if you can show them that everyone’s going to be okay, and they really don’t have anything to fear.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Flattery will get you everywhere with Leo! Any intelligent person would take your side, and since Leo is easily the most intelligent person you’ve ever met, then surely they’ll be able to see why your way is best.
Also, anyone as attractive, creative, and visionary as Leo is bound to have some ideas about how to make your perspective even better, and you would love to listen to them talk about your wonderful idea for hours.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Don’t argue with Virgo. They can pick you apart in seconds, because they really do see exactly where you’ve gone wrong. If you can’t avoid it, though, be prepared to back up your position with facts and figures and examples.
Virgo doesn’t have to be right — they just usually are. If you can prove they’re wrong, they have no problem changing their mind.
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Libra doesn’t argue; they negotiate. You won’t win a fight with Libra, but you won’t lose, either. If you can show them that your position is more fair (or better yet, corrects an injustice), they’re likely to bend, but you should still be willing to compromise.
If there’s a way that you can both get something that you want, Libra is more than happy to settle — they’ve got a party to go to and they don’t want to be late.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Mind-games, half-truths, and fancy leaps of logic are not going to work on Scorpio. Worse, they’ll lose all respect for anyone who argues like that and then you won’t even have a chance.
Tell the truth — all of it, even the uncomfortable bits. Express your real feelings and motivations. Don’t try to sugar-coat anything. Scorpio will always have their own agenda, but if you can argue honorably, they’re more likely to try to accommodate your needs as well as their own.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Sagittarius knows a little bit about everything, but they’re rarely experts on any one topic. They love to learn, though. They’ll usually cede an argument to anyone who can teach them why they’re wrong and help them understand more about the issue (and they’ll even thank you for it!).
However, if the whole problem really boils down to opposing opinions, you might as well agree to disagree, because Sagittarius does love their own opinion.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorn does not have time for silly bickering. If the issue doesn’t directly relate to what they’re working on, just take care of it, please — they really don’t care who’s right or wrong.
If it does, though, you’d better have a very good reason for trying to get them to adjust their plans or change their goals. Show them that your way is more efficient or will yield better results in the long run, and they’re sure to come around.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
Before you get into it with Aquarius, are you sure that you understand their point of view? They tend to see things from very different angles than most other people, so there might not even really be anything to argue about.
In any case, don’t bother appealing to their emotional side — they’ve got that under control. Instead, try explaining how many people would benefit from your idea. The more good you can do, the more likely Aquarius will be to take your side.
PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
Confrontation is so frustrating and upsetting for Pisces, they’re likely to agree to anything, just to make the fighting stop. They can actually feel others’ anger and emotional distress, and they take it on as part of their own.
That gives you an advantage in a fight with Pisces, though — they really do understand exactly where you’re coming from. If you can express your true feelings about the issue and let them see how it hurts you, they’re likely to back down. But be kind about it and remember that it’s hurting Pisces, too.
