The Planet Uranus Is Turning Direct! This Is How It Will Affect Your Love Life
Just because we could ignore it doesn’t mean we should.
On January 2nd, 2018, Uranus turns direct in Aries after a five month period in retrograde. This will add to the climate of heightened emotions and feelings around the start of the New Year and full moon.
Uranus is the rebel planet, the governor of big change and independence. Uranus doesn’t do things just because he should and he doesn’t mind causing waves; in fact, he thrives on surprises and decisive action. It’s not that he’s selfish, he just can’t put up with self-sacrifice either.
While Uranus was in retrograde the past five months, we have all been looking at who we truly are apart from who our family and friends define us as.
Perhaps for some of us, we found that our family and friends were rooted to us more deeply than we anticipated, but for most of us, as the date of this planet turning direct nears, we are increasingly realizing that perhaps we’re not the person everyone thinks we are.
The thing with Uranus is that he’s not into slow changes or gradual movement. He’s more of the planet to walk in on a scene throwing up his proverbial hands and that’s it. It’s this take nothing attitude that will be permeating the air around us in the next week or so as the beginning of January nears.
In truth, we’ve had plenty of time to think things over — five months exactly. We’ve had plenty of time to look at ourselves, to figure out who we are and what we want, and now as Uranus turns direct in Aries, we’ll be feeling that fire of movement beginning deep within our veins.
If Uranus is the planet of sudden changes, then Aries is the sign of movement and action. Combining these forces and energy is like pressing the accelerator, so we go from 0 to 100 in 60 seconds or less. It’s fast, calculating, and it doesn’t slow down for anyone or anything.
Yet, this energy is illogical or brash, because we’ve spent the past five months figuring things out. We’ve worked through so much, and now is just simply the time to act upon everything we’re learned.
Because of the proximity to the super full moon, the energies of Uranus and Aries will be exaggerated. This that because full moons are a time of completion, we could see some sudden endings or changes.
But don’t forget that big surprises can be really positive changes as well.
Sometimes it seems as if we fear change or think that just because something is different, it means it’s going to be negative in some way. Often, what is ahead of us truly will be better than anything that we leave behind, or that leaves us behind.
Because of the influence of Venus around this time, with the Cancer moon, it doesn’t feel as if these changes Uranus wants to make will be breakdown-inducing; rather, it might actually be on the opposite end of the spectrum.
It’s easier to expect that things won’t work out, that we’ll be disappointed and hurt, because then if that happens, we won’t be completely let down. But sometimes, life works out better than we could have anticipated.
We often have to take a chance to believe in the good things in our life. To think that maybe, for once, we won’t be let down. It requires not only a huge amount of faith but also the ability to let the past go and imagine a different outcome than we previously have imagined. This aspect of our vision versus reality is also something we have been working through during this retrograde period.
Not only did we have to separate who we are from the person others perceived us to be, but we also had to look at how we expected our life to be versus the one that is trying to manifest. The only guarantee that any of us have in this life is that it will not go according to plan; the people we think will be there until the end don’t even make it past halftime.
But Uranus is on the scene reassuring us that within the chaos, within the change, true stability lays.
We can’t control life, we can’t always have the last say, and we aren’t always meant to do things the easy way, but what we can do is let go enough so that we let life happen as it is meant to. We have to make the choice to be directed, to be shown, and to admit that maybe we don’t always know what is best for ourselves.
When Uranus turns direct in Aries, there will be surprises, there will be new truths that come to light, and there will be the desire to just move already. It's almost an impatience in the air — after all that time, all that waiting, we finally know who we are and what we want, and now we just want to act on it. Sometimes we are meant to go slow, but this isn’t one of those times.
For many of us, we will see changes in our family dynamics. We won’t have a problem making choices that are in our own best interests, even if that means letting people down that we love. We will gain clarity about our place in this world and we won’t want to waste another minute pretending otherwise.
This direct motion can also mean the greenlight for career choices as well as important relationship decisions. Overall, Uranus always favors the truth and independence and once we turn direct, it will be impossible to ignore the desire for either in our lives.
And Uranus will be there asking us why we ever even did in the first place. Just because we can pretend to be someone other than who we are, or that we’re happy, it doesn’t mean we actually should.
Sometimes it’s better to just be ourselves, even if that means hurting a few people along the way.
