It’s one thing to want someone who is financially responsible, but to avoid getting involved with someone because they aren’t a billionaire is extremely shallow.
Finding a partner should be less about what they have and more about what they can give to the relationship. If they don’t have a flashy job but they listen to you and comfort you when you need it, this is something worth keeping. And even your horoscope might tell you the same thing.
One should never have to pretend to be someone they’re not just to hang on to a partner who ultimately isn't right for them.
When considering someone for a relationship, you need to be honest — not just about yourself but about them too. You can’t depend on them changing in the way you need them to change and if they seem too good to be true, they probably are. It’s crucial to be aware of the danger signs and not get lost in how good they appear to be.
There are those people who have absolutely no romantic standards whatsoever; if someone likes them, then they like them back. You don’t need to take the first person who comes along, even if you’re desperately lonely. It’s far better to enjoy your own company than to settle for someone that doesn't make your heart sing.
The balance between having standards and not being too limiting or not limiting enough is tricky, but it can be done. And that's where astrology comes in. Here are the zodiac signs who have high standards in relationships and life, ranked.
1. SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
You might think because of Scorpio's very sexual nature that they'd be a little less restrictive when it comes to romantic partners; however, the opposite seems to be true. They've got a list of what they want in a partner and they won't settle for less.
If they find someone who seems to be exactly what they're looking for, the Scorpio individual won't stop until they have them for their own. They don't care if the situation seems impossible, they'll keep at it.
2. LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Leos know that they're the whole package, so they need someone who can either match them or lift up to a higher level. If a Leo settled, then they'd come to resent that person and themselves for not holding out for someone who was better suited to them.
Sometimes, because their standards are so high, they miss out on the perfect partner. But they're okay with that.
3. VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgos tend to be perfectionists, so why wouldn't they have a long list of requirements for a romantic partner? They want someone who wants them just as bad and won't last long in a relationship where they are someone's second choice.
Virgos strive to be equally as wonderful as their partner which is where they can get into trouble — their standards for themselves are almost impossible for them to achieve.
4. CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorns are okay by themselves, so they're not going to rush into anything just to save themselves from being alone. They have certain criteria that they like to stick to when choosing a romantic partner.
They want someone who is attractive, has a strong moral fiber, and who has their finances in order. They can't stand being someone who is constantly having to evade creditors and is getting overdraft notices from the bank.
5. TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus has very high standards and will make sure that their intended meets most of them before they take any steps to advance the relationship.
No matter how careful they are, Taurus still can fall for the wrong person, and when they do, they will try to reformat their list of requirements to fit the person, which tends not to work. They stubbornly refuse to admit they made a mistake so, in the end, their list is worthless.
6. CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancer has flexible standards. They tend to follow their heart and once they've fallen in love with someone, they see them as having all the attributes that they're looking for.
Cancers love so unconditionally that it might be a huge red flag for someone else, but becomes a necessary trait for the Cancer individual. They don't see themselves as having low standards but as having a generous and open heart.
7. GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
Geminis go back and forth on their standards. Sometimes they won't even consider someone that they can't check off all of the boxes on, and other times they couldn't be more lax about what they're looking for in a romantic companion.
Gemini has difficulty deciding what it is that they want and they get anxious about whether or not a potential partner is worth taking a chance on.
8. LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Libra's have fairly low standards — if the person can make them laugh and doesn't get too confrontational, Libra's cool with them. Once they've decided to be with someone, they start to second-guess their choice and the other person's behaviors can get on Libra's nerves.
Maybe if Libra was clearer about their standards, they wouldn't find themselves in relationships that didn't work.
9. AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
Aquarians don't want to exclude anyone, so they work not to have standards or checklists. If they're sticking to their standards too closely, who knows what they might miss.
They could overlook the perfect partner because of something they thought they wanted. No, it's much better to be open to the possibilities and get what you want without even knowing that you wanted it.
10. ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries individuals think they have sky-high standards but the truth is they tend to end up with people who are suitable for them. They can get swayed by someone who is better looking or younger than they are.
Aries are a lot more romantic than they care to admit so if, on the surface, someone appears to be perfect and out of a romance novel, Aries will fall for them. Sagittarius has standards but they're all superficial. They want someone who looks good, is hot, social, and fun. They're not usually looking for something long-term anyway.
When Sagittarius is blinded by beauty, they can find themselves in a relationship where they're not treated well. The good news is, if Sagittarius is being treated like crap by a partner, they have no issue with getting up and getting out of the relationship.
12. PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
Pisces don't want to hurt anybody and to them, having a huge list of restrictions for a romantic partner is a big rejection. Besides, it's not as if they aren't willing to overlook other people's mistakes, foibles and flaws anyway.
Someone could take advantage of a Pisces individual and Pisces would still give them a second chance. Pisces has been accused of being too nice, too forgiving, and not having a strong enough sense of self-esteem. There are times when they don't think they deserve someone perfect for them.
