July 31st should be an international holiday. Though for many of us Potterheads around the world, it is! At least in our hearts.
Because today marks the birthday of Harry Potter (fictional) and J.K. Rowling's REAL birthday. Yes, the Queen herself gave her main character her same special day.
And while I am not one to normally find myself overly grateful for the birth of a celebrity who doesn't know my name, well, J.K. Rowling is an exception.
Without her, Harry Potter would not exist.
The boy who lived under the stairs would never have been rescued.
We would live in a world without Hogwarts as an ever-welcoming home, no matter who you are.
What a dark and depressing world it would have been.
