22 Carrie Fisher Quotes On Life, Love & Finding Happiness

When news broke last week that actress Carrie Fisher had had a heart attack while on an L.A.-bound flight, you could almost hear the collective, "Oh, no. Not another one." After a year of losing some of the most iconic artists the world has been lucky enough to witness, the thought of losing Fisher  or as Star Wars fans the world over will always remember her, Princess Leia — was inconceivable.

But in the days that followed, her condition went from critical to stable, and that collective, "Oh, no. Not another one" turned into a collective sigh of relief. But it wasn't to last.

Today, Carrie Fisher died at the age of 60.

As the Weather Channel's Ryan Sloane tweeted last week, "Carrie Fisher survived alcoholism, addiction, depression, bipolar disorder & 60 years on Hollywood. If anyone can survive 2016, it's her." But, sadly, not even Fisher could beat 2016, which, let's be honest, is a year from a hell.

Although Carrie Fisher will always be associated with her roll as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, she was much more than that character.

Not only was she in multiple other movies, including Hannah and Her Sisters, When Harry Met Sally…, and so many more, but she was also a writer of both semi-autobiographical novels, as well as nonfiction books in which she covered her addiction to cocaine and prescription medication, as well as her struggles with bipolar disorder, and what it was like growing up in Hollywood with two very famous parents: Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher.

Fisher made no apologies, always stood her ground, and, in a world where people far too often like to keep things politically correct and don't want to rock the boat, Fisher always told it like it was. She was a woman who had no f*cks to give, and she was loved, admired, and respected for it.

Here are 22 Carrie Fisher quotes that truly sum up just how awesome, bad ass, and honest AF she really was.

1. "I always wrote. I wrote from when I was 12. That was therapeutic for me in those days. I wrote things to get them out of feeling them, and onto paper. So writing in a way saved me, kept me company. I did the traditional thing with falling in love with words, reading books and underlining lines I liked and words I didn't know."
