In the words of the Bee Gees, "Love is such a beautiful thing." It really is, and YourTango know that better than anyone. But how much love is too much?

It's when a mother decides that she loves her child so much that she marries them. And it just happened in Oklahoma.

In March of 2016, 43-year-old Patricia Ann Spann married her 25-year-old daughter Misty Velvet Dawn Spann. Local authorities discovered the affair in August during a child welfare investigation. Both mother and daughter were arrested and are now facing prosecution.

And that's not the end of it. It turns out that Patricia also married her one of her sons back in 2008. The marriage lasted 15 months until the son filed for annulment, citing "incest" as the reason (oh, really? What a surprise).

Now, you may think that this is a case of a step-parent or adopted parent falling in love with their step or adopted children. But no, Patricia is biologically related to both of her children, which, in the state of Oklahoma, marriage between close relatives is considered incestous AND illegal, regardless of the existence of a sexual relationship

According to Patricia, she wasn't aware of the law when she married Misty, "because her name was not listed on her daughter’s birth certificate." She also lost custody of all three of her children (gee, we wonder why). The children were then cared for by a paternal grandparent, until Patricia was reunited with Misty two years ago.

Both are now being held in Stephens County jail. Reports say that the motivation behind the marriage — whether it was "falling in love" or a need to establish some kind of legal familial relationship — is still unknown.
