WHOA, Janet Jackson Is Pregnant At Age 50! Here Are All The Details
Congrats to the expectant mother!
We should all be wishing Janet Jackson a Happy Mother's Day this Sunday, because the singer just announced that she and her billionaire husband, Wissam Al Mana, are expecting a baby!
It's perfect timing for such a momentous occassion, so here are four things you need to know about her pregnancy announcement:
1. This is her first child.
Although she had been married before (her current one is her third), her child with Al Mana is her first for the both of them. But Janet had always wanted to be a mother.
In a 2008 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jackson said, "I would love to have children of our own, but we also would love to adopt... So, we'll see what happens. It'll happen someday." That someday has arrived!
2. There were clues all along.
In a TMZ report last month, the singer announced in a Twitter video that she was postponing her "Unbreakable Tour" because she was "planning" a family. She also said that she was under doctor's orders to rest. If that's not a big enough clue, then we don't know what is.
3. She's going to be a 50-year-old mother.
Janet, currently 49 years old, is just shy of her 50th birthday. TMZ said that even with IVF, it would take a miracle for her to be pregnant. Lo and behold! A wonderful miracle it was.
In 2013, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that at least 13 children are born to mothers aged 50 and older every week. Jackson can now join the ranks of these other moms over 50.
4. Like any expectant mother, she has doubts.
Entertainment Tonight correspondent Cojo said that Janet would be "the greatest mother in the world." Her response? "Well, I hope so. People say that, but I hope so," she said.
We're sure that you will be, Janet!
