Best News EVER: Granny Panties Are The New Thongs, Says Study
Looks like comfort is winning out — and thank GOD.
There is a lot that goes into picking out underwear. Are you going for comfort? Are you looking for something that doesn't give you visible panty lines? Or are you going down the sexy route?
Many young ladies are saying to hell with uncomfortable underwear and going for granny panties.
Research from NPD Group finds that the sales on thongs and sexy underwear have decreased by seven percent in 2014, while sales for briefs, boy shorts, and high-waist briefs are up by 17 percent, according to The New York Times.
So why the change? It could be that post-recession has really changed women's mentality when it comes to shopping. NPD Group says that women now buy out of necessity to replace things, rather than spoiling themselves.
This new trend may also be because of feminism.
There are Kickstarters from feminists wanting to start their own sexy lingerie line due to lack of body positivity and comfort. One in particular is Neon Moon, which already reached it's goal; according to the pictures there are less thongs and more full, cute underwear.
But thong sales isn't all NPD Group noticed. Millennial women are less conservative when it comes to their shoes. They like "trendy and unique" shoes. Chances are, women are ditching the uncomfortable clothes that people don't see, but still going for flashy when it comes to the shoes.
