It's Over Already! Kim Kardashian Files For Divorce
Unfortunately, Kim and Kris won't be living happily ever after, even with that fairy tale wedding!
It's all trick and no treat this Halloween: Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries are over! Just 72 days after Kim Kardashian's lavish fairy tale wedding, the reality star has filed for divorce earlier this morning, citing "irreconcilable differences."
TMZ reported the news earlier this morning, and E! anchor Giuliana Rancic confirmed the story via Twitter: "It is true. Kim Kardashian filing for divorce. The exclusive details tonight on @enews at 7 and 1130pm." Giuliana Rancic & 9 Celebs Who've Battled Breast Cancer
Earlier this week, the couple was spotted having dinner together looking "less than pleased," according to TMZ. This comes on the heels of many rumors that they were headed for splitsville, as the two were often spotted solo and without their weddings rings.
However, when Kim arrived alone to the Midori Green Halloween party this past Saturday night in New York, she told People, "I'm going to Australia tomorrow so I'm in New York alone tonight. Something I really prepared Kris for [was] to let him know that no matter what we do, there's going to be rumors. ... It used to really upset me and now I don't even think about it." The Kardashians Try To Convince Us Kim's Marriage Is Fine
Now that we know the truth, we all want to know one thing: why are they divorcing so quickly? Is it because their entire marriage was a sham?
While there's still no official word (Kim will release a statement to E! later today), TMZ believes one major reason is Kim's unwillingness to move and settle down in Minnesota, Kris's hometown. She would be too far from her family, and it might negatively impact her business.
Whatever the case, Kim has hired Laura Wasser to handle her divorce, whose past clients include Britney Spears, Maria Shriver and Angelina Jolie.
After sending an official press release confirming the split, E! released a statement of their own saying:
"All of us at E! are surprised and saddened by this news, and we send our support to Kim and Kris at this difficult time. The Kardashians have always been uniquely open with all aspects of their lives from joyous events to intimate moments to heartbreaking transitions. E! will continue to share the fascinating real lives and larger-than-life existence of this close-knit family."
However, we'd just like to say, "We told you so."
UPDATE:
E! News has just released the following statement from Kim Kardashian herself:
"After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best."
Here are more details from the E! News press release:
"As for the division of their assets, the couple did indeed have a prenuptial agreement, and the 29-year-old reality star requested that the terms of that agreement be upheld. Additionally, she listed 'miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects' as well as 'earrings and accumulations' amassed by Kim before, during and after her marriage be confirmed as separate property. No word on whether that includes her $2 million, 20.5-carat diamond ring."
"As for attorney and legal fees, Kim made clear that she would prefer his 'n hers payments, requesting that each party pay their own court fees."
Are you surprised that Kim and Kris didn't last? Do you think it was all a sham?
