I am the originator of THE ENCHANTED SELF® a positive psychology method for increasing happiness. I've been a positive psychologist in private practice and licensed in the states of New Jersey and Massachusetts since 1981. I am in private practice in Long Branch, New Jersey with my husband, Dr. Russell M. Holstein.
The magic of the human spirit, with its capacity for survival, growth and joy, intrigues me. I am especially interested in how women can overcome obstacles and difficulties and end up leading happy, productive lives.
I've been teaching girls and women how to access their potential, have fun, feel fulfilled and happy for many years. There are many ways to access your Enchanted Selves, i.e., the best and happiest parts of yourself. I explain a lot about how we get to our most magical, fun, energetic parts of ourselves in two books I have written - THE ENCHANTED SELF, A Positive Therapy and Seven Gateways to Happiness: Freeing Your Enchanted Self.
I've also written fiction. My fast paced fiction novel Around Every Corner, Romance & Mystery... (Also titled Next Year in Jerusalem), will take you on a roller-coaster ride of romance, mystery, intrigue and travel that will entertain you while giving you some food for thought about life, falling in love, decisions, etc.
My two books of fiction for girls are The Truth, Diary of a Gutsy Tween and Secrets, Diary of a Gutsy Teen. These books are full of challenges that face just about all of us as we move into our teen years. A first crush, family problems, having to move, loss of a best friend, sibling issues, parents not communicating, bullying, moods, angst of puberty. You will find all of it in these two books, plus discussion questions in the back to help you and your daughter communicate more fully.

I also have written and produced a play, 'The Locket' based on my book The Truth and a short film, 'The Truth, A Short Film'. I am now working on a second film based on Secrets.
