About Carl Frankel
I've been a writer for most of my adult life. I've also been in relationships for most of my adult life.
In 2005, these activities converged when the nationally-known sex teacher Sheri Winston and I fell in love. We've been life partners since then and, since 2009, we've also been business partners. I've helped her run our Center for the Intimate Arts, and I've also turned my attention as a writer and "thought leader" to the rich and ever-fascinating territory of sex and relationships.
In 2009, I served as editor and 'general advisor' for Sheri's first book, Women's Anatomy of Arousal: Secret Maps to Buried Pleasure, which won the 2010 AASECT Book of the Year award (American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists).
In late 2013, I published my first book on relationships, Love and the More Perfect Union: Six Keys to Relationship Bliss. It's been called "a welcome and innovative contribution to the relationship literature" (Dr. Patti Knoblauch) and a "creative combination of established principles of relationship happiness with an original and useful map and model" (Dr. Jamie Turndorf, a/k/a 'Dr. Love').
2014 saw the publication of two more books with my name on it.
Secrets of the Sex Masters, which I edited, brings together the wisdom of some of the world's greatest sex teachers, including Charles Muir (widely credited with bringing Tantra to this country), the legendary porn actress Nina Hartley, and my partner Sheri Winston.
Succulent Sexcraft: Your Hands-On Guide to Erotic Play and Practice is the sequel to Sheri's award-winning Women's Anatomy of Arousal. I was so involved in its creation that the author attribution is 'by Sheri Winston, with Carl Frankel.'
Being partnered with a sex and relationship professional is interesting and, well, different. Whether we're in the bedroom or the living room, everything we do has a potentially pedagogical as well as personal aspect. We're forever asking ourselves, Is what we've just done or learned of value to others? How can we bring this to them?
At this point, I'm an experienced hand at relationships. If I haven't learned something by now, I'm a poor student indeed. Hopefully what I've learned—and keep learning, through my own private inquiries and my relationship with Sheri—will be of benefit to you.
You can access what I offer through my books, my blog posts and other articles, and private coaching.
What else? The fact that I have two fancy degrees (Princeton University undergraduate, Columbia Law School) may enhance my legitimacy for some people. For me, though, my strongest credentials derive from having had the good fortune to lead an unconventional life rich in learning.
