About Carol Clark
Dr. Carol Clark is an author, educator and therapist. Her book, Addict America: The Lost Connection, has helped change the lives of all who have read it and been an invaluable resource for therapists who use it with their clients. She is certified in Sex Therapy, EMDR, Addictions, and Transgender Care and is the owner and president of the Sex Therapy Training Institute, Addiction Therapy Training Institute, International Institute of Clinical Sexology, Therapist Certification Association, and president of the International Transgender Certification Association.
After moving to Miami in 1990 with her Master’s degree in Counseling from the College of New Jersey, Dr. Clark worked for Dade and Broward Counties in child abuse, substance abuse, and custody/social investigations with Family Court. She later graduated from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality with her PhD. She grew her private practice with a focus on trauma, sex therapy, and addiction. Feeling the need to pass on her experience, she created her own various schools to train therapists throughout the world via live webinar. Her graduates come from Canada, Saudi Arabia, Australia, South America, and Africa, as well as most of the United States.
Over the years, Dr. Clark saw a commonality in the problems with which people present and conceptualized a way of looking at our highly stimulating lifestyles, with the resultant loss of intimacy and connection, as the result of a perpetually over-stimulated state that defines addiction and that disconnects us from each other and the universal life force. From this, she wrote her book, Addict America: The Lost Connection–a life-altering guide for all people and an excellent clinical resource. By understanding the fundamental nature of addiction and applying the healing strategies set forth in this book, readers find themselves reestablishing Connections in their lives that seemed lost forever.
Dr. Clark has continued to grow her schools and inspire counselors and other healthcare providers to work with many of those underserved people whom society marginalizes, including LGBTQI, people living alternative lifestyles, and sex offenders. Her goal is always to guide all who come her way to a place of Connection.
