That didn't last long.

"The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" are two of the most iconic and popular dating shows in America. They both have crazy amounts of viewers and fans from all over the world and there are now 37 countries that have their own version of "The Bachelor."

The American Bachelor and Bachelorette are usually picked from the runner-up or fan favorite from previous seasons who want to find love and get married. Although, an engagement at the end of the show doesn't always mean that the couple will get married. In the past few seasons of both "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" love was not always a result in the end and some people did get heartbroken.

Lots of people also come on the show just for fame and attention as many contestants, especially the women on the show, become Instagram influencers afterward and used their fame on the show to help them make money and be successful off the show. The Bachelor or Bachelorette also receives a minimum of $100,000 according to Reality Steve, so that's yet another incentive to go on the show in hopes to be the next Bachelor or Bachelorette.

With ulterior motives, monetary incentives, and the unlikely possibility of falling in love in only six short weeks, couples who form on The Bachelor or Bachelorette don't seem like they will last. Therefore, this is why couples formed on Bachelor Nation shows are bound to fail.

1.They often live in separate states after the show.

Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes seemed like the perfect couple on her season of “The Bachelorette” but was it doomed to fail from the beginning? Blake was put on her season, which was the second most recent season of "The Bachelorette," a bit late in the game, which caused lots of men to question his intentions.

The two seemed like they had instant chemistry, however, their lives in the real world ended up being a problem the two of them couldn’t work out.

Blake lives in Ontario, Canada and Katie lived in Washington State. With the two of them being on the opposite sides of the continent, the distance and difference in lifestyles made the two of them incompatible in the real world and after only three months after their engagement they split up.

Peter Weber's season was one heck of a ride as soon as Hannah Brown came into the picture. As soon as he saw her his eyes lit up and he seemed excited to see her.

Peter came into his season with a previously failed relationship with Hannah Brown, who was the previous Bachelorette, and Peter was on her season before he became the Bachelor.

Hannah Brown also recently revealed in her new book "God Bless This Mess," that while Weber's season was airing, he had told her "he'd quit the show ... if I wanted to be with him."

In both "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" age differences are bound to happen as casting usually is between the ages of 21-35.

In Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s season of "The Bachelor," his heart was stolen by Bekah Martinez who was a clear front runner during the majority of his season. That was, until she revealed her 14-year age difference.

At the time of the show, Luyendyk Jr. was 36 and Martinez was 22. Soon after he knew about her age he had concerns about the age gap and eventually let her go.

4.There's often cheating involved.

There've been a few instances of possible cheating on both "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette," but nothing was as bad as Hannah Brown's season where Jed Wyatt proposed at the end and she said yes... without knowing he had a girlfriend back home.

Her season finale was shocking when we saw the "After the Final Rose" episode that revealed Hannah Brown breaking off the engagement and giving the ring back to Wyatt after news broke that he had a girlfriend back home.

His ex-girlfriend — singer-songwriter Haley Stevens — told PEOPLE that she was four months into a relationship with Wyatt when he starred on Brown’s season.

This wasn’t the first time cheating was involved on the Bachelor as it occurred as early as the first season with Alex Michel & Amanda Marsh who broke up due to Michel sleeping with another contestant named Trista.

Sometimes after getting engaged to a person you only knew for six weeks, things can get messy in real life.

This was especially the case with former Bachelor Ben Higgins and his ex-fiance Lauren Bushnell, who is now Lauren Bushnell Lane. The two got engaged on the show, and afterward, life seemed pretty normal for the two of them. Or so we thought.

Soon after their season aired, they got their own show called "Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After?" which revealed the two realizing they weren't a perfect fit after all — they had different wants and needs in a relationship.

The show not only tore them further apart but ultimately led to breaking up after realizing neither of them was happy.

6.The stiff competition leaves only the most aggressive or straightforward ones at the end.

This was the problem for Peter Weber and Madison Prewett — Madison was very straightforward with Peter, letting him know that she was a virgin and that she didn't want him to stay unfaithful to her. Therefore, she gave him an ultimatum that if he sleeps with the other woman during fantasy suites that she would leave him.

Weber didn't take her word as an ultimatum and confessed to her on their final date that he was intimate with the other women and then Prewett left him. This left Peter very confused and disappointed in himself — he ended up proposing to Hannah Ann Sluss instead, but broke things off once he realized he was still in love with Prewett.

Weber had said that his and Prewett's relationship was "literally the most trying and most difficult experience I have ever been through."

7.The fame and spotlight after the show can ruin a good relationship.

Dale Moss and Clare Crawleys relationship on "The Bachelorette" was unlike anything we'd seen previously in Bachelor Nation. Their instant chemistry led him to be chosen for the first impression rose.

After only two weeks of dating on the show, Crawley said that Moss was "the one" and the two got engaged in only two weeks.

There was some speculation, however, after the show that the two had a previous relationship and had been talking on Instagram direct message. Their relationship drama was all over the news and the couple didn't like the fame and attention that they were getting.

The two ended up breaking up this past Fall, after a long history of an off-on again relationship of almost two years, Crawley writing on her Instagram some suspicious things about Moss. "I am just thankful for the people in my life who offer genuine unconditional love with no personal gain, and stand by me through thick and thin. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE CAMERAS ARE OFF with no accolades. actions speak for themselves."

8.There's often a large social or wealth gap between the contestants and the main bachelor/bachelorette.

Money and social status can often cause an issue for contestants applying to be on "The Bachelor" or "The Bachelorette".

This was the case for Arie Luyendyk Jr. who was both an attractive and wealthy racecar driver with a net worth of over 4 million dollars. Luyendyk popped the question to Becca Kufrin, but months later he said he was having second thoughts about marrying her because he still had feelings for runner-up Lauren Burnham.

Kufrin at the time was living in the midwest in Minnesota as a  publicist. Their breakup blindsided her, dumping her in front of cameras. Surprisingly enough, Burnham was also wealthy as a tech in Dallas, Texas, and unfortunately for Kufrin at the time, Burnham had already met Luyendyk at a  race track for one of his races.

9.There's too much pressure to succeed after the show.

bachelor couples that broke up Kaitlyn Bristowe

Before getting engaged to Jason Tartick in 2021, Kaitlyn Bristowe was engaged to ex-fiance Shawn Booth for three years from 2015-2018.

Kaitlyn was on Chris Soules’s season of “The Bachelor” but love was not in the cards for them. Fortunately for her, she got a second chance as “The Bachelorette” where she met Shawn — and they seemed like the perfect couple.

However, Bristowe said on an episode of her podcast "Off The Vine," that she was so enamored with Booth that she believed he felt pressure to stay with her because of the show. "I think he felt that way. I don't feel like I did because, I mean, there is definitely a lot of pressure on us. Through those years it did feel like a lot of pressure, and people were always chiming in and kept talking about your relationship and think they know your relationship. I found that hard to keep up with because people did not know we were struggling on the other side."

10.Big egos get in the way.

The Cut claimed Juan Pablo Galavis as the "worst Bachelor in history" thanks to his homophobic comments and gaslighting behaviors toward Clare Crawley. Apparently, the ex-bachelor said whatever he wanted and his high ego seemed to get in the way of finding true love.

He even shaded Crawley on Twitter as her season was airing, saying,  "Interesting PROMO of @Clare_Crawley and the season of @BacheloretteABC, 6 years LATER and I know WHO is the Juan that can’t get OVER Juan … Would LOVE if you take a GUESS? PS: Clare got over LONG time ago, just in CASE …"
