The Drunk Tweet That Set Off The Entire Jake Paul / Gigi Hadid / Zayn Malik Feud
Don't ever talk about Zayn Malik unless you're ready to deal with Gigi Hadid.
Gigi Hadid isn't afraid to stand up for her man, Zayn Malik — and over the weekend, she had to when Jake Paul tried to start drama.
Apparently, Malik and Paul crossed paths in Las Vegas, and it didn't quite go the way Paul hoped, which led to him calling the former One Direction singer out on Twitter ... and Hadid, his girlfriend, clapped back.
So what's going on with the Zayn Malik/Gigi Hadid/Jake Paul feud? Here's all the dirt that's come out so far.
1. It all started in Las Vegas over the weekend.
Paul and his friends were in town for the boxing match between Tyson Fury and Deyontay Wilder, and as it turned out, so was Mailk. He took to Instagram to share a photo of himself with pals in Vegas as they entered the arena at the MGM Grand, where the fight was being held. Little did he know that some major drama was going to break out — and most of it was going to go down on social media.
2. Paul tweeted about his encounter with Malik, which apparently didn't go well.
According to the YouTuber himself, Malik was apparently rude to him when they ran into each other at the event, and Paul was upset enough to share the story with the masses, even mispelling his name as "Zane" in the process.
In a tweet from Paul's account that he later ended up deleting, he wrote, "Almost had to clap up Zane from [One] Direction because he is a little guy and has an attitude and basically told me to f*ck off for no reason when I was being nice to him. Zane, [I know] you’re reading this … stop being angry cause came home alone to [your] big ass hotel room hahaha.”
Later, in another deleted tweet, Paul expanded on the situation, writing, "bro he literally started yelling and freaking the f*ck out 'you wanna test me mate' lol I feel bad for childhood stars."
3. Hadid wasted no time clapping back at Paul.
After seeing Paul's tweet, Hadid responded in kind, letting him know in no uncertain terms that her "respectful king" wouldn't want to hang out with Paul and his friends.
"Lol cause he doesn’t care to hang w you and your embarrassing crew of YouTube groupies ..? Home alone with his best friends like a respectful king cause he has me, sweetie. Unbothered by your irrelevant ugly ass. Go to bed ..." the model tweeted.
4. Paul attempted to apologize, chalking his tweet up to being drunk.
The next morning, Paul tried to clean up the mess he made by deleting the tweet and trying to explain his behavior but at that point, it was too late.
"Someone needs to take my phone when i’m drunk because I am a f*cking idiot," Paul wrote, but judging by the responses to his tweet, it doesn't sound like his fans were convinced that he was remorseful about the situation.
5. So far, it seems like Malik is staying out of it.
Although this entire situation seems to have stemmed from an encounter that he had with Paul, Malik is the only one who hasn't actually commented on this situation just yet. He seems content with letting Hadid fight this particular battle, but knowing Malik, that's not surprising — he's never been the kind of celebrity who likes to get involved in online drama (or any other kind of drama), so it would actually be more out of the norm if he had responded publicly.
6. Malik and Hadid recently reunited after some time apart.
The couple has dated on and off for years but recently, they seemed to be taking an extended break. However, in January, sources confirmed that their relationship was officially back on — and judging by the way Hadid has defended her man, it seems like they're still going strong.
"Gigi and Zayn got back together right before the holidays in December," an insider said at the time. "Zayn has been reaching out to Gigi for the last month and she is giving him another chance. She has always loved him and the break between the two was needed. Zayn has been working on his past music and focusing on his health and is in a really good place currently."
