'RHOA' Star Noelle Robinson Has A New Girlfriend: Meet Alexis Powell
She told mom Cynthia Bailey she was bisexual last year.
Last fall, Noelle Robinson came home from college and jumped back into filming The Real Housewives of Atlanta with her mom, Cynthia Bailey. After a school year apart, they were eager to reconnect and the cameras were there to capture it when Robinsons told her mother than she was bisexual.
Bailey was incredibly supportive and the mother-daughter pair later went to Pride events in New York, where they danced on rainbow-covered floats. But not all days can be like Pride so Robinson needs to get back to real life.
The 20-year-old had been attending Howard University in Washington, D.C. last year but she wasn't sure if she wanted to stay in school or if there were other options she was interested in exploring. It turns out that part of her indecision about going back to D.C. this fall might have been a love interest who was out in LA.
Who is Noelle Robinson's new girlfriend, Alexis Powell? Read on for all the details.
1. Who is Noelle Robinson?
Fans of The Real Housewives of Atlanta know Robinson as the daughter of Cynthia Bailey and her ex-husband, Leon Robinson. Noelle has done some modeling and is a social media influencer. She completed her first years at Howard University in D.C., where she was out on her own for the first time.
She wasn't totally set on a major, however, and didn't know if she was ready for her sophomore year yet. "I'm trying to figure out if I want to stick to my major in nio or if I want to switch to acting," she told reporters over the summer. "I'm just trying to figure out what I want to do, what my passion is right now."
2. Robinson came out to her mom in 2019.
When Robinson returned to Atlanta after her freshman year, her mother had plenty of not-so-subtle questions about her love life. “You didn’t meet anyone during your college experience? When I helped you move in, I saw a lot of cute guys,” she asked. Noelle didn't hide the truth about her sexuality saying, “I definitely ended up meeting a couple of girls that I thought were cool in a romantic aspect.”
Bailey took the revelation in stride and didn't freak out. She did want some clarity, however, and asked if that meant Robinson liked both guys and girls.
Noelle explained, "People like to try and box everybody in and put labels everything, but I don’t really do that … there’s a lot of attractive guys and there’s a lot of attractive girls.” She added “It really just came out of nowhere a little bit. I just wasn’t really expecting that to happen.”
3. Bailey was completely cool with her daughter's revelation.
In a moment that could be part of a textbook on how to gracefully respond to a child coming out, Bailey kept it positive but didn't go over the top. She simply said, "If you meet an amazing young lady, that's a blessing. If you meet an amazing young man, that's a blessing as long as they're good people and they love and support you."
Of course, even the most supportive mom in the world is still a mom and Bailey was keen to know if there was someone special of any gender in her daughter's life. "Who do you like now? Who are you kicking it with now? Is it a male or a female and when am I going to meet them?” Bailey pestered Robinson.
Bailey and Robinson attended New York City's Pride Parade in 2019.
4. Who is Noelle Robinson's girlfriend, Alexis Powell?
At the time, Robinson wasn't saying if there was someone she had her eye on. But now, it appears she's dating a woman named Alexis Powell. Powell, like Robinson, went to Howard and she just graduated in 2019.
Judging from her Instagram posts, she is in LA now and it an aspiring filmmaker and media personality. According to one of her YouTube video, she is a Baltimore native who moved to the West Coast after applying for the HBCU in LA Internship program. She wants to work in the entertainment industry and has been pursuing that goal through her studies and internship during college.
Powell graduated from Howard University in 2019.
5. The two of them are in LA together.
She is serious enough about Powell that the Howard alum joined her family for dinner recently. In an expired Instagram story, Powell was tagged in a photo about a family dinner that included Bailey, her fiancé Mike Hill, and his daughters Kayla and Ashlee.
Hill is in California and Robinson has been taking time off from college to live with him and her step-sisters-to-be while she pursues acting. The two of them are both hitting the same spots in LA — like this bookstore that shows up in Powell's YouTube and Robinson's Instagram — so it's obvious they're hanging out together.
It seems possible that Powell was also a draw for Robinson and might be the reason she isn't rushing back to D.C. to start back at school.
6. What's next for the couple?
The two young women are keeping a pretty low-profile in terms of posting pics together or tagging each other on their public accounts. But if they are serious enough to be meeting family, this may be the real deal for this couple.
