27 Funny Jenny Slate Quotes To Make You Laugh
She's weird and we love it!
Actress, author, and comedian Jenny Slate started performing comedy with her best friend Gabe Liedman after meeting him at Columbia University in 2000.
Together, they became comedy duo ‘Gabe & Jenny.’ In 2008, they then began doing free stand up shows in Williamsburg with Max Silvestri called Big Terrific. Around that time, Slate started performing a one-woman show called Jenny Slate: Dead Millionaire at Uprights Citizens Brigade Theatre (UCBT).
In 2009, Jenny Slate appeared in sketches on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and the television shows Girls, Bob’s Burgers, Important Things with Demitri Martin, and others. During this time, Slate was hired on Saturday Night Live for one season. In her first episode, she accidentally cursed during her first sketch “Biker Chit Chat.”
In 2010, Jenny Slate co-wrote and voiced the viral video Marcel the Shell with Shoes On. She also played the role of Mona-Lisa Saperstein in Parks and Recreation. In 2014, Slate played the leading role in the indie film Obvious Child, which tackles issues surrounding pregnancy and abortion. For this performance, Jenny Slate received the Critics Choice Award for Best Actress in a Comedy.
Jenny Slate had recurring roles in the sketch show Kroll Show until it ended in 2015. A year later, Slate voiced the sheep, Dawn Bellwether, in Zootopia and Gidget in The Secret Life of Pets.
Throughout her childhood, Jenny Slate grew up in a literal haunted house in Massachusetts. She and her father co-wrote a book detailing their experience living there, called About the House. In 2019, Jenny released a book of essays called Little Wierds. Her first stand-up special, Stage Fright, was released to Netflix. Slate also currently voices the character of Missy Foreman-Greenwald on the show Big Mouth.
Jenny Slate is truly a wonderful performer. Above all, she is someone who is incredibly unique and not afraid to be herself. She says exactly what is on her mind and is not afraid to express her emotions. I have been a fan of Slate for a long time and have seen her Big Terrific comedy show alongside Silvestri and Liedman. One time, she came on stage and said something along the lines of “I’m too sad to perform comedy right now so I’m going to read a story.” Then she proceeded to read a story she wrote about a flower, while openly crying through it. It was one of the most beautiful and authentic moments of live entertainment I have ever seen.
If you want to get a taste of the real and delicate Jenny Slate, then I highly recommend you listen to her podcast episode of WTF with Marc Maron. She’s honest, genuine, funny, weird, and kind. It is simply impossible not to love her.
