Are Jennifer Aniston And Brad Pitt Moving In Together?
There was a moving truck outside her house recently. Was Brad moving in?
Back in 1999, everyone was swooning over the made-for-TV (and movies) romance of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. They were Hollywood's golden couple, with a hit sitcom and a lot of major movie titles between them.
Then, in 2005, the romance ended. They announced their separation and divorced just a few months later. The ink was barely dry on the legal papers when Pitt started appearing in public with his Mr. And Mrs. Smith co-star Angelina Jolie. The timing always seemed suspect and Pitt went from Hollywood's golden husband to Hollywoods's biggest suspected cheater in the blink of a paparazzi camera.
Pitt went on to marry Jolie and Aniston married Justin Theroux, though neither marriage lasted. They both kept making outstanding movies, as well. They are both divorced and recently have been a spotted attending a lot of the same events, most recently The Golden Globes. Pitt was also invited to Aniston's holiday party.
Now the rumors are flying after moving trucks were spotted outside Aniston's home recently, prompting people to ask: Are Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston moving in together?
1. They were the hottest couple of the years around Y2K.
In between panicking that all the computer systems in the world would go offline on the first day of the year 2000, fans of Pitt and Aniston followed the pair's romance as they moved from red carpet appearances to a trip down the aisle. They were originally introduced by their agents in 1998 and fell for each other immediately.
By 1999, everyone was used to seeing them at awards ceremonies looking all California beach glam together. In 2000, they tied the knot in a fairytale wedding with "200 guests, 50,000 flowers, 40-person gospel choir, lobster, champagne, Melissa Etheridge, and fireworks."
They married in 2000.
2. The magic didn't last for the couple, however.
By 2005, there were reports that Pitt and Aniston were on the brink of divorce. They spent New Year's Eve with friends on a long-planned vacation but observers at the time said they didn't seem happy to be together. “I never saw them touch during the entire meal,” said the source. “They seemed more like they were on a first date.”
A few weeks later they released a joint statement announcing their separation.
“We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate. For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media," the statement read. "This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration. We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another. We ask in advance for your kindness and sensitivity in the coming months.”
3. The plot thickened when Pitt stepped out with Angelina Jolie.
By spring of 2005, it was clear that there was something going on with Pitt and Jolie. The pair had met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and sparks allegedly flew between them.
Jolie swore that nothing happened until Pitt was single, saying at the time, “To be intimate with a married man, when my own father cheated on my mother, is not something I could forgive. I could not, could not look at myself in the morning if I did that.”
But the rumors persisted, even though Aniston always maintained that nobody did anything wrong during their marriage.
4. Each of them moved on with their lives after the divorce.
Pitt and Jolie were together until 2016, and they have six children together. Jolie and Pitt's divorce has been intense and complicated and isn't actually final yet, though a judge ruled they can be considered single as of summer 2019.
Aniston was linked to some major names like Vince Vaughn and John Mayer but those relationships didn't last. In 2011, she started dating Justin Theroux, and the couple married in 2015. However, only three years later they split up and Aniston has been single ever since.
5. Could this be a second act — are Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston moving in together?
Friends say the formerly married couple never lost touch with each other and they retain warm feelings for one another. Pitt was in attendance at Aniston's 50th birthday party in December and showed up at her annual holiday party as well. Both of them hit up the same after-party after the Golden Globes, though they did not hang out at the shindig.
Some reports suggest the couple is ready to start a family and speculate that they were visiting an orphanage in Mexico to investigate adopting.
But rumors really heated up when someone spotted a moving van in front of Aniston's home recently. Despite lack of solid evidence that the couple is making another go of it, people started to wonder if the truck was full of Pitt's stuff and they were starting over, twenty years after they got married in the first place. They could even start over in the place they started out; their old mansion is up for sale.
6. What do Aniston and Pitt have to say about their future?
The couple themselves say they aren't a couple. One friend of the pair told reporters, "They definitely aren't dating or on that path. They are friendly, but that's it."
Another source close to the couple said, "Brad and Jen have a wonderful connection that might seem flirtatious at times. They dig each other’s sense of humor and have an infectious energy when they’re together, but they insist things are purely platonic and nothing more than that.”
It would be awesome for this one-time couple to have a second chance but it looks like that's not really in the cards. Le sigh.
