How Each Zodiac Sign Perceives Themselves

getty The truth of the matter is that when we see our own zodiac sign being mentioned, we automatically assume our sign is the best sign. It's a bit childish, but it's the spot on truth. (If you're an Aries and you hear someone else is an Aries, it's only natural to assume that other Aries is one top notch specimen of humanity.)
Our self-perception is based on our perception of what we think others think of us, which may have nothing whatsoever to do with reality. But astrology can provide more insight.
We build our own image according to what impresses us, and how we rank on our own scale of good traits and bad. Some zodiac signs see only the worst in both themselves and in others, while certain signs see brilliance, hope, promise.
It all depends on when you were born. Your zodiac sign comes with a kind of self-perception, and while it might be a stereotype, there it it, nonetheless.
What are each zodiac sign's perception of themselves?
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries thinks of themselves as the natural-born leader in any circumstance, and it is assumed that you think so too. Positions of leadership and an ability to work the crowd allows Aries to feel justified in this self-perception.
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
They know themselves as "the party." They really don't want a boring, dull existence, and "fun" is what they bring wherever they go. Most people get on board with this idea and let Taurus do the work. They think of themselves as DJ, the director, the think tank and producer of good times.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
Gemini likes to think of themselves as lonely geniuses — never understood, always heartbroken. They perceive their lot in life as unfair and burdensome, which conveniently works out as they are the laziest sign in the zodiac.
They don't feel like working BECAUSE work is for those who think of themselves as workers, not a Gemini thing.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
They believe they are the Illuminati. They can't accept that they're just regular ol' humans; they have to separate themselves from us, and their perception tells them that they are superior, especially in spirituality, a field that is ironically littered with ego and competition.
Capricorn perceives themselves as the Second Coming, the Bodisattva, the True Guru.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Leo truly believes in their heart that they know everything and are right about everything they know. Leo reputation tells them they are the best in everything they do.
Their egos are monumental, and in Leo's mind, they have every right to believe they are nothing less than the GOAT.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgo's perception of themselves is one that is always threatened; they latch on to a cause and should anyone on earth dare to contradict them or their cause, they will lash out violently at that person.
Virgo is the most defensive sign, and what they defend is their pride. They perceive themselves as proud, correct and final.
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Libra, somehow, thinks they are good and kind people; they have an idea in their minds that if they agree with everyone and contradict no human alive, that people will see them as sincere and kindly. They're not. Libra lies to themselves even more than they lie to their own mother.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpio has a very deep-rooted believe in themselves as spiritual... even spiritually advanced. This means they give unsolicited advice to everyone, critique to everyone else, and guidance to those who want nothing to do with them.
Scorpio perceives themselves as sainted helpers. As long as you take their advice, you get to live another day.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Sagittarius has been getting by on that old "We're independent and creative" thing for so long that they've come to believe that's all they are. And in truth, they're right. They are independent and creative, but they're also self-obsessed, bad friends, oblivious to others and emotionally dead.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
This sign likes to think of themselves as the voice of reason, the helper that comes through with the needed advice, and the friend who never leaves you. They're also demanding and snobbish, which makes their saintly self-perception a bit hard to handle if you're not completely into it.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
Tough love is what Aquarius puts out, and in their own minds, they think this is the good stuff. They perceive their actions as harsh but necessary, and they tend to drive loved ones away with their "School of Hard Knocks" approach to life.
They think they're doing the right thing, when, in fact, all they're doing is isolating themselves further from what matters most.
PISCES (February 19 - March 10)
Pisces thinks of themselves as compassion personified. They have a very good self-perception, and it always revolves around other people and how they can better someone else's world.
This is all well and good... until it's time to actually get out of bed and do something. But hey, it's the thought that counts, right?
