Meet Duane 'Dog The Bounty Hunter' Chapman's Alleged New Girlfriend, Moon Angell
Chapman's daughter says Angell made a move on her dad weeks after his wife's death.
getty It's never easy for a child to see a parent moving on to a new relationship after the death of the other beloved parent. It is downright messy for a child to see a parent who is also a reality TV star to maybe be moving on to a new relationship after the death of a not-quite-beloved stepparent.
But that's what's going on inside the family from Dog The Bounty Hunter.
Duane 'Dog The Bounty Hunter' Chapman lost his wife Beth to cancer in June 2019. His daughter Lyssa, who didn't always have a great relationship with Beth, has been accusing a long-time employee of the Chapman family of trying to date her dad.
Chapman claimed that a woman named Moon Angell started putting the moves on her father within weeks of Beth's passing. Angell and Lyssa traded heated tweets about it for days. And Chapman also claimed that Angell dated her brother before moving on to her dad!
Despite there being no initial confirmation that Duane and Moon were dating, the accusations may actually be true. Not only are Chapman and Angell a couple, but they may even be getting married!
But who is Moon Angell, Duane 'Doug The Bounty Hunter' Chapman's possible fiancé? Keep reading for all the wild details.
1. Lyssa Chapman was the one who broke the news that Angell and her father may have been dating.
In August 2019, Chapman was spotted out in LA with an unidentified woman. His people said she was just a friend and the photo doesn't look like Angell. But that wasn't the source of the rumors about them.
The first inkling that Chapman and Angell were an item came from inside the Chapman family. Lyssa Chapman, Duane's third youngest daughter — her mother is Chapman's third wife, Lyssa Rae Brittain — is the one who broke the news.
Lyssa took to Twitter to confront Angell about her relationship with her dad saying, "You're disgusting woman. Any person who moves in on a man weeks after losing his wife, who you were supposed to be a 'friend ' to, Is the lowest scum on the planet-Which for you wasn't that far of a step down from where you were before. God will get you MARY !!!"
The Chapman daughter also said that Angell first met her family because she had been dating one of her brothers. "Let’s not forget how you came to know my family because you were with my BROTHER. NOW TRYING TO FET WITH MY DAD. BARFFFFFFF," she tweeted before following up with, "Let’s not forget my BROTHER PICKED YOU UP IN A BAR !"
Angell disputed that she met Lyssa's brother in a bar. "WE MET IN THE BOWLING ALLY DUM DUM," she said in response in a now-deleted tweet.
2. Angell fired right back on Twitter.
Without confirming or denying a romantic relationship, Angell started tweeting right back at Chapman. "THAT WAS NOTTTT 'ME.' I BEEN AROUND 21 YEARRRRRRS. YOU BEEN RIDE'N ON YOUR DA's COAT TALES SINCE YOU SHOWED UP AS A DRUG ADDICT FROM ALASKA. YOU FUNNY," she said in a now-deleted tweet.
Lyssa Chapman then responded, "I know you don’t know this. But he’s my dad you dummy. Riding is coat tail. Bitch please. Lol. You’re dumb. Keep talking s*** about his baby and see how far that gets you."
The two continued trading 280-character barbs, some in in all-caps, accusing one another of abusing Chapman, being a drunk liar, and only being in it for the fame, in multiple now-deleted tweets.
The two women have been at each other's throats on Twitter.
3. Who is Moon Angell? She seems to have been Chapman's assistant at one point.
Angell says she worked for Chapman in a number of capacities. She says she is his "Hollywood Executive/Personal Assistant/Denver Dog House Merch Store/DTBH Facebook" and she's based out of Honolulu.
She includes a lot of business-related duties in her job description, including contract review and project management. She also seems to have been a nanny for the Chapman family at some point since she lists childcare among her other duties.
She doesn't say how she got connected to the Chapman family, but she does list bounty hunting as another job she had. She claims to have been a licensed bounty hunter, running a business she called Bail by the Moon from 1998-2014.
4. Angell is also the CEO of her own makeup artist company.
In addition to hunting for fugitives and assisting the Champan family, Angell says she has spent 25 years as CEO of Silver Moon, the company name for her freelance makeup artist business. She says the company is, "a freelance professional hair and makeup artist 1st based in Maui, Hawaii, traveling the universe of change, believing in new styles for the America we love to love."
She says she has worked on film, TV shows, photoshoots as well as weddings and other special events. She's pretty proud of her work, saying, "I put blood, sweat, and tears into a portfolio that garners attention to makeup, hair styles, fashion and photography."
Despite her years as a makeup artist, however, she doesn't have an online portfolio to link to. Unlike others in the field, her social media doesn't show any examples of her work.
5. Has anyone else confirmed that these two are a couple?
Even Angell hasn't said definitively that she is dating Chapman. Aside from trading insults with Chapman's daughter, she hasn't shed any real light on the current state of their relationship.
She did drop one tantalizing hint that he might have something to say about it all, revealing in a now-deleted tweet, "YOU GONNA BE SHOCKED WHEN DOG HIMSELF MAKES A STATEMENT ABOUT ALL THIS."
However, in early January 2020, Chapman revealed some insight about his relationship with Angell. “Moon has been a trustworthy and loyal friend to me for over 20 years. She has been with my family through many ups and downs. All my children are grown and gone on their own, there’s no one left to help me! Moon is experienced. It’s just that. Who knows what my future holds, but right now I need her. There will never be another Mrs. Dog but that doesn’t mean I have to be so sad,” he said.

6. Duane Chapman remained mum about spending the holidays with his new lady.
If Chapman and Angell actually are in a relationship, he didn't talk about them spending a cozy Christmas together. Chapman, instead, stayed focused on keeping his late wife's holiday traditions alive without her.
"Beth was old style, old-fashioned. So, you know, that means the tree and the presents. All the stockings hung up... so I'm trying to keep that exact tradition," he said in an interview. "I've got it all decorated. All the stockings are hung. We always left — when the kids were young — cookies for Santa, and I think I'll do that this year also."
Even the Christmas tree is a source of memories for the reality star. "Every little ball that's on the tree, every ornament, you know, there's 20 years plus of ornaments on that tree, so as I hung [them], I remembered where and when we bought each one," he recalled.
7. Lyssa continues to fuel the fire.
On January 6, 2020, she posted a series of now-deleted tweets, further claiming that Angell had dated her brother before dating her dad.
But these tweets didn't just come out of the blue. Her father posted a photo of himself and Angell on Instagram, and Lyssa allegedly commented with a bunch of vomit emojis. The comments have since been deleted.
8. Lyssa claims that Angell dated her brother — meaning Chapman may marry his son's ex!
One of the most shocking claims that Lyssa Chapman has made is that Angell, her father's current alleged girlfriend, is actually one of Chapman's son's exes. Duane has seven sons, but hasn't revealed which one Angell apparently dated.
It's anyone's guess which son she was previously linked to.
9. Angell was a bridesmaid at Chapman's wedding to Beth.
In a photo that recently surfaced from Chapman's 2006 wedding, it was revealed that Angell was a bridesmaid at the event. In the photo, she's seen standing right next to Beth Chapman, along with the other bridesmaids.
10. Did Chapman propose to Angell?
Even though Chapman promised Beth he wouldn't get married again after her passing, a teaser for a new episode of The Dr. Oz Show may prove different.
In an episode that premiered February 3rd, Chapman and Angell appeared on the show. Chapman is heard saying, “Moon Angell, will you marry me?” But his proposal may not be what you think.
11. No, Chapman and Angell are not getting married.
Turns out that the whole proposal was just a "test." Angell's response to Chapman's question was a firm no, saying, “What? We’re friends, Duane. I love you as a friend.”
Dr. Oz then revealed that it was all just a test. Angell also said, “I can’t marry you. Right at this very moment, I don’t see you as that. I love you and Beth as my friends.”
Chapman then revealed that he was already well aware of where his relationship with Angell stood, but wanted to make sure everyone else knew as well.
So, were Lyssa Chapman's allegations of her father dating Moon Angell true? It seems both parties deny a romantic relationship, but could that all just be to save face?
