Is Young Lyric Dating YoungBoy NBA?
The two have made their relationship "Instagram official"!
Who is Young Lyric? That's been the question on everyone's mind since it was revealed that the popular rapper and YouTube personality has been secretly hooking up with Baton Rouge, LA, native YoungBoy NBA. The "Slime Mentality" rapper, who has had more than his fair share of drama with his ex-girlfriends (and even his baby mama) in the past, may just have found love with Young Lyric, who is quickly becoming a rap music star in her own right. So let's look at what we know about their burgeoning relationship.
A few things to note by way of background: Youngboy NBA is not a reference to the professional sports organization. Rather, it's short for "Never Broke Again," which is, we think, a wonderful aspiration to have. The Atlantic Records signee was born Kentrell DeShaun Gaulden and built up a huge social media fanbase thanks to his string of eight (count'em!) mixtapes released over the course of two years, between 2015 and 2017. The success of his mixtapes drew the attention of Atlantic Records, and after the major label juggernaut dropped two other mixtapes of his, they released his single "Outside Today," off of his first studio album, Until Death Call My Name. "Outside Today," ultimately, reached No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, which is rather impressive.
New details have emerged around Youngboy NBA's dating life and new relationship. Here are some details about his new girlfriend, Young Lyric.
1. She's signed to Rap-A-Lot Records.
Young Lyric isn't just a small-time rapper — she's signed to the prestigious Rap-A-Lot Records, whose parent company is Sony Music Entertainment (under their RED Distribution arm) and whose CEO is hip hop legend James Prince. Though the most famous act on the label is The Geto Boys, Rap-A-Lot Records also boasts artists like Z-Ro and Bun B on their roster.
2. Young Lyric comes from a musical family.
Young Lyric, whose real name is Lyric Michelle Ragston, comes from a musical family. Her father, Mitchell Ragston III, is a noted producer and the CEO of Bad Akkktor Records. Young Lyric said that she got a lot of her musical influence from her father, who would take her "everywhere" with him and, finally, let her record her first song back in 2006.
3. She was a cast member on the hit show, The Rap Game.
"Being a cast member on the show, it seemed all over the place and we never knew what we were doing that specific day or what we were going to be walking into. On the first day on set, we had to perform for T.I., Jermaine Dupri, and Da Brat, so I definitely realized that I had to be ready for whatever at any given moment. That’s the most important thing that I took away and I’m thankful for that experience," Young Lyric said to Sheen Magazine about her time on the hit Lifetime TV show.
4. While Young Lyric seems to be free of relationship drama, Youngboy NBA is anything but drama-free.
Even though Youngboy NBA is only 20 years old, he has had more than his fair share of relationship drama. He first started by dating Floyd Mayweather's daughter, Yaya, before moving on to Kodak Black's ex-girlfriend. From there, he went back to his baby mama, Jania, before starting this new relationship with Young Lyric. Even though they're both around the same age (Young Lyric is 19, Youngboy NBA is 20), they're in vastly different categories, relationship-wise.
5. Youngboy NBA claims he has herpes, and that his baby mama gave it to him.
Youngboy NBA details how his baby mama, Jania, gave him herpes in not one, but two, songs.
The first song is called "Can't Be Saved," in which he says, "I ain't do not a thing, that's a regular problem/Everyday gettin' cussed out by my mama/Herpes in my blood and that s*** got me cryin'/I really got feelings, you see without science."
In another song called "Truth About Herpes," he makes clear that his baby mama, Jania, is responsible for his diagnosis: "That ain’t a reality when I hear what you saying/I got herpes and I offered it to Ni/To come clean that chick offered it to me."
Later, both he and Jania admitted they had the STD.
6. Young Lyric and Youngboy NBA's relationship status is "Instagram official".
Young Lyric made her relationship with Youngboy NBA "Instagram official" with a photo she captioned "NBA YoungGirl." In the photo, she's holding on to the rapper's neck while he smiles, broadly. HOW CUTE ARE THEY?
