Lady Gaga Stunned As Bridesmaid At Her BFF's Wedding — And Video Of Them Dancing Proves It Was A Blast
Mother Monster and the bride slayed on the dance floor! (Obviously)
Lady Gaga stunned in all pink as a bridesmaid at long-time makeup artist and business partner Sarah Tanno’s destination wedding to Tim Stewart last weekend. Gaga wore a beautiful soft pink dress and waist-length pink hair to match.
She shared several photos to her Instagram story, giving fans a glimpse into the beautiful beach location in Mexico, while also posing in several photos with a gorgeous Los Cabos sunset in the background.
“Two of my best friends just got married. Time to party!” she shared on her story.
Bride Sarah Tanno, 38, shared on her Instagram that she used products from the collaborative makeup line she released with Gaga — Haus Laboratories — on her special day.
The beach wedding looked like an absolute dream, and we wish we could have attended! We also can't help but wonder if Gaga, 33, performed or if any of her music was played at the reception. But either way, we do know they all had a blast at the reception (as evidenced by this video posted on Twitter).
Who is Lady Gaga's BFF?
Read on to find out about Gaga and Tanno’s friendship and some of the projects they have created together.
1. Tanno has been Gaga’s makeup artist for over a decade!
Sarah Tanno has worked as Lady Gaga’s official makeup artist since 2009 and has created some of Gaga’s most iconic looks.
She has accompanied Gaga on every tour and created her looks for albums, awards shows such as the Grammys and Oscars, her Super Bowl LI Halftime Show performance, and her Academy Award-winning role in the 2018 film A Star Is Born.
Tanno has also worked with other top artists, such as Fergie, Katy Perry, and Kelis.
2. Lady Gaga attended the bachelorette party just hours after falling off a Vegas stage
Just hours before Tanno’s bachelorette party, Gaga took a hard fall after being dropped off the stage by a fan during a Vegas show, requiring X-rays of nearly her whole body.
Not only did Gaga make sure to comfort the audience member involved, asking him to forgive himself for what just happened, the injury wasn’t enough to stop Gaga from making an appearance at her best friend’s bachelorette party that same night.
She wrote in her Instagram story, “I might be in a lot of pain but I couldn’t miss my best friend's bachelorette dinner.”
3. Tanno is in the co-founder of Gaga’s makeup line Haus Laboratories
Earlier this year, Gaga announced she was launching her own beauty brand called Haus Laboratories.
“I don't know if people realize," Tanno says, "but this is a start-up. She didn't just put her face on some other brand's name. I remember sitting on the floor with just her and two of our product development people, and mixing everything from scratch and having these meetings at her kitchen table when there's four of us. So, we really did this on our own, completely from scratch.”
In a characteristically pro self-love ad for the brand'a launch, Gaga can be heard saying, "The last thing the world needs is another beauty brand. But that’s too bad. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but at Haus Laboratories, we say beauty is how you see yourself."
4. Tanno won an Emmy for Gaga’s iconic "American Horror Story" look as the Countess
In 2016, Tanno won an Emmy for Outstanding Makeup in a Limited Series, Movie Or A Special (Non-Prosthetic) for Gaga’s famous Countess character in "American Horror Story."
“I have a different process for every type of job. For AHS creating the Countess took a ton of creativity and homework,” she told Grazia. “We decided her character would have a different vibe and style for each love interest in the season. It was the most challenging and most rewarding experience. I did 68 original glam looks in one season.”
5. Some "little monsters" didn’t approve of Tanno's work on Gaga's look for the Oscars
Gaga took home an Oscar for her incomparable song “Shallow”, which she performed with Bradley Cooper for A Star is Born.
Gaga looked sleek on the carpet in a timeless look similar to Audrey Hepburn's in Breakfast at Tiffany's, even wearing the exact Tiffany & Co. necklace featuring the 128.54 yellow Tiffany Diamond worn by Hepburn in a poster for that film.
Despite the stunning look, Gaga's makeup was much more minimalistic than her “little monsters” were accustomed to, and many were not happy with Tanno’s work — so much in fact, that one even started a petition (which only had one supporter and has since been closed) to get Tanno fired.
Tanno faced so much backlash it allegedly prompted her to delete her Twitter account. On Tanno’s Instagram, she shared the look she was going for: “Lady Gaga’s Oscars makeup was all about being soft, fresh and young. We didn’t want anything to distract from this special moment.”
6. Tanno is also an ambassador for Marc Jacobs Beauty
As it turns out, Haus Laboratories isn’t Tanno’s only business collaboration.
Tanno has been the Global Artistry Ambassador for Marc Jacobs Beauty for three years now, having been approached by Jacobs himself after he saw her work on Gaga in "American Horror Story."
"I had been a fan of Marc and the grunge era growing up," Tanno says. "I always followed his work, even all the way back to Perry Ellis. I loved how he was so bold in pushing boundaries and it made me feel brave. It helped shape me into the artist I am—I’m always trying to break boundaries and not sit on the cookie-cutter of what’s on trend, and Marc’s always been fearless about that.
