Cynthia Bailey's Daughter Noelle Robinson Comes Out As Sexually Fluid — How Her Mom Reacted
Noelle shared some news about her romantic life.
There are always a lot of dramatic moments on the Real Housewives shows. That's what audiences tune in to see. But this week, Cynthia Bailey on the Real Housewives of Atlanta took a moment that could have been a big drama and turned it into a touching example of a mom supporting her daughter.
Viewers know Noelle as Cynthia's daughter with her ex-husband Leon Robinson. Noelle has done some modeling and boasts an impressive 319,000 followers on Instagram. These days, she is studying at Howard University in D.C., where she is out on her own for the first time.
In the latest episode of the show she was back in Atlanta for summer break and her mom had some personal questions for her. And Noelle had some equally personal answers for Cynthia; when her mom asked if she was dating any boys from college, she said no. But then she said there had been some girls who caught her eye back at school.
Who Is Cynthia Bailey's daughter and how did her mom react when she came out? Read on for all the details.
1. Mother-daughter boding
In the most recent episode of RHOA, Cynthia Bailey took some time to catch up with her daughter Noelle. People reports that the 20-year-old model had just returned home after her first year at Howard University in Washington, D.C. and her mom wanted to get some insight into what she had been up to during her months at school. She used a car ride as an opportunity to get the skinny on if Noelle had anyone special in her life.
2. Coming out to mom
Cynthia tried to be subtle in asking if Noelle had a special someone but it was pretty obvious what she was getting at when she commented “You didn’t meet anyone during your college experience? When I helped you move in, I saw a lot of cute guys.” Noelle didn't beat around the bush with her, according to E! News. She told her mother, “I definitely ended up meeting a couple of girls that I thought were cool in a romantic aspect.”
Cynthia took the revelation in stride and didn't freak out. She did want some clarity, however. “So you like guys and girls?” she asked.
Noelle was happy to explain the situation, musing, "People like to try and box everybody in and put labels everything, but I don’t really do that… there’s a lot of attractive guys and there’s a lot of attractive girls.” She added “It really just came out of nowhere a little bit. I just wasn’t really expecting that to happen.”
3. Love is love
In a confessional, Cynthia shared that Noelle had told her before that she considered her sexuality fluid so it wasn't entirely a surprise that she had been dating girls at school. People reports that she feels good about how her daughter is handling her romantic life and how they are talking about it as a family. "It makes me excited that Noelle feels like she has a safe space to share," Cynthia said. "With World Pride right around the corner, I think this is the perfect time for me and Noelle to show out and celebrate because love is love."
Noelle posed wearing rainbows with the hashtag #LoveisLove.
4. Being a supportive parent
Cynthia wanted to make sure her daughter knew that the family was there for her no matter who she decided to date, E! News notes. "I just want you to be happy, Noelle. If you meet an amazing young lady, that's a blessing. If you meet an amazing young man, that's a blessing," Cynthia said. " As long as they're good people and they love and support you."
5. Being a regular parent too
After making sure her daughter felt safe and accepted, Cynthia went full-on mom and asked when she was going to get to meet anyone her daughter was dating. Pretty much every parent can relate to wanting to get a look at their child's significant other, no matter how fluid their preferences may be.
“Who do you like now? Who are you kicking it with now? Is it a male or a female and when am I going to meet them?” Cynthia pestered Noelle.
“I don’t have anyone I’m officially dating at this point,” Noelle said. “I just got back from college. I’m just trying to get settled in.”
6. Showing up for Pride
Cynthia wasn't kidding when she said Pride week was going to be a chance for her and Noelle to really show up. Back in June, Noelle posted a photo of herself and her mom atop a float in the New York City Pride Parade. Both mother and daughter were decked out in rainbows and they looked like they couldn't be happier to be sharing that moment.
Mother-daughter fun at Pride.
We don't know if Noelle will be bringing home any dates — boys or girls or non-binary folks — this season. Keep watching RHOA to find out.
