Is Summer Walker Quitting Music? Find Out The Details About The Hottest Singer-Songwriter In The Game Today
"Y'all don't deserve me!"
She's one of the hottest women in the music game today — everything is hot about her, from her music to her boyfriend. Yet, she just announced that she might be quitting music after this latest tour coming up. Who is Summer Walker?
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Summer Walker got her start as a businesswoman. Until last year, she owned her own cleaning business — and it was while she was cleaning other people's houses that she realized she had a talent for singing. In late 2018, Walker released her first-ever commercial mixtape, Last Day of Summer. The single off the mixtape called "Girls Night Out" was an instant smash and from there, Walker closed her cleaning business and pursued a career in music in earnest. She's currently signed to Interscope Records.
Let's look at what else we know about this hot girl.
1. She suffers from social anxiety.
As BET.com pointed out, Summer Walker's performance on NPR's hit show, Tiny Desk, made headlines because fans called it "lackluster." (It was world's away from Megan Thee Stallion's performance on the same show, which was absolutely incendiary.) But the outlet correctly points out that part of the failure of Summer Walker's performance on Tiny Desk has to do with her extant social anxiety. "Look, I’m really freaking excited to be here, but I have social anxiety like a motherf---r. So, yeah. I’m freaked the hell out. I’m sweating. But this is so exciting for me," she said.
2. Summer Walker inspired Drake to make new songs.
MTV had a chance to sit down with rap superstar Drake, and he told the outlet that he was really "feeling" her new album, Over It, which was released last month. Drake also told the outlet that the album was so good, it inspired him to make new music. Fans of hip-hop know that over the summer, Drake released two songs (including "Money In The Grave") with Rick Ross, and he told MTV that thanks to Summer Walker, he's now in "album mode." (We'll note, too, that Drake did a remix of Summer Walker's hit song "Girls Need Love," which you can hear above, so perhaps that inspired him too.)
3. Chris Brown has even said that he wants to work with Summer Walker.
Capital Xtra got a hold of Chris Brown's Instagram stories before they disappeared, and in those stories, he implied — though didn't outright state — that he was either working with, or wanted to work with, Summer Walker in the studio.
4. She has an on-again, off-again relationship with London on da Track.
London on da Track is one of the fastest-rising stars in hip hop today, and according to Metro, he has an on-again, off-again relationship with Summer Walker. Currently, they're "off-again," so much so that she was "shocked," recently, when he surprised her on stage to win her back after she'd announced that they'd split in her Instagram stories. (Much like Offset did with Cardi B, however, London on da Track was able to win Summer Walker back. Good for him.)
5. And naturally, Summer Walker and London on da Track's baby mama have beef.
These days, when women want to fight with one another, they take to their Instagram stories to fight it out. And Urban Islandz got their hands on Summer Walker's beef with Ebonii Ivory, London on da Track's baby mama, where they went back and forth about Ebonii's daughter with the rapper.
6. Is Summer Walker quitting music?
