Meet Carmen Christopher — A Comedian To Watch In 2020
You may recognize him.
While we’re all familiar with popular comedians like Dave Chappelle, Joe Rogan, Jerry Seinfeld, Ali Wong, Jon Stewart, Patton Oswalt, and dozens of others, there’s nothing quite as refreshing as new talent. Well, not new in the sense that these comedians have just come onto the scene, but new as in we’re just hearing about them.
The topics of conversation for comedians are endless, and with this particular comic, you may already be familiar with his work. According to an upcoming event, “Carmen blends an hour of absurd stand up and sketches in a loose narrative that will make you laugh more than the time you watched Superbad for the first time.” Sounds like the perfect stand-up routine, right?
Who is Carmen Christopher? An article in Vulture earmarked him as a comedian to watch out for this year! So, here are a few things to know about his style, talent, and where you can watch his performances.
1. His education and background
Christopher graduated from the University of Iowa in 2006 with a Bachelor’s in Marketing. Once he graduated, he was a Sales Representative in a “supply chain and logistics industry” for eight years before dipping his toe into comedy. Clearly, he wasn’t meant to be in this career.
2. Comedy
Originally from Chicago, Christopher now lives in Brooklyn. However, before moving, he trained at The Second City, Annoyance, iO Chicago, The Upstairs Gallery, and Black Box Acting. He was a writer and performer on The Chris Gethard Show, and even toured as Gethard’s opener in 2017.
Currently, he performs at the Annoyance with The Holy F*** Comedy Hour, Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse, The Postmen, and hosts The Juice, as well as co-hosts $$$ at Upright Citizens Brigade.
3. TV and movies
In addition to his expertise in comedy, Christopher has appeared on quite a few television shows and movies, including High Maintenance, At Home With Amy Sedaris, Late Night With Seth Meyers, Little Banks on Wall Street, Sunset Peak, Sunnyside, Shop Talk, Otherhood, I’m Killing It!!!, The Special Without Brett Davis, Alternatino, Delivery Dudes, MTV’s Bugging Out, and A Maine Movie.
4. Twitter and YouTube
While he’s appeared on television and toured, Christopher is a frequent Twitter user, keeping his fans entertained with jokes and even movie spoilers. He also has a YouTube channel where he posts videos of his stand-up, bits, and episodes of Little Banks on Wall Street.
